Judging what console is superior by what games are exclusive to it is a poor measurement.

Simply put, Xbox 360 has the best multiplayer system to date and the ability to download demos of games to try them before buying is priceless.

I prefer the 360 controller over the ps3. In fact, I originally purchased a 360 controller to play Need for speed on my computer. I liked the game and the controller so much I bought a 360. Not to mention the buttons are exactly like SNES. So it works great with emulators also.

Games are important, but I really think "exclusive" titles are on the way out. Any game developer who does make exclusive titles is probably under contract or sub owned (take bungie for example). No one but the console makers want exclusive games.

My roomate has a ps3. I have a 360. I don't play either. I play Shards of Dalaya =p He plays my xbox far more.

Exclusive titles have been known to raise the bar for systems and decide whether that system will survive the test of time. Judging a game by its exclusive titles is absolutely relevant.

Oh and Ouchy, you're right. I got Metal Gear's exclusive status mixed up with Devil May Cry's somehow.

the games are what makes a console great (obviously the ability of the console to allow developers to do certain things is important)

if console A has the 15 best games, and they're exclusive to that system, then console A is better than console B

I didn't buy an xbox because of any one exclusive game. That just sounds down right retarded to me.

Want to talk about exclusive games? How about the fact that no one can develop a PS3 game unless it is directly approved by Sony. You will never see a homebrew game in the PS3 market unless it is running on a hacked version of the hardware. Microsoft is doing things better than anyone else in this market. XNA allows for home brew developers to create and distribute games to a wide variety of users. How many games will you see designed by one or a few people on the PS3? None. This is why exclusive titles are a poor measure to determine what console to buy.

The Xbox 360 has the best multiplayer support of any system by far. The controllers are familiar and comfortable. When I have friends over it is so easy to set them up on a Need for speed track and have competitions all night.

I bought an Xbox because it plays Dvd's, it has great multiplayer support, and I can download demos before actually buying the game! All of this adds up to far more than any other console could provide.

and yet, the best game system out there, if you want to include any measurable would be the DS

huge homebrew community

FREE wifi multiplayer system

hundreds of exclusive games, as well as a lot of popular ports

and please, don't try and make the arguement about 1 exclusive game, cause that is dumb

if 1 system has 15+ exclusive awesome games that everyone wants, it's probably going to be the most successful system


if most of the systems have the same games, then it's just going to come down to peripherals (online gaming, free content, better controllers maybe)

Sony cuts PS3 dev kit price in half.
In an attempt to further diversify the Playstation 3's library of games, Sony has announced a dramatic price cut for the console's software development kit. The Playstation 3 Reference Tool will now be made available to new developers for $10,250 USD, or €7,500 EUR. This is nearly half of what the SDK has previously cost developers.

Sony has also announced plans to further cut the cost of the development kit once more studios have adopted the format. On the surface, it's clear that Sony's struggling to earn new developers for their console, and hopes that incentives like a reduced entry fee for development will bring new blood to the system. On the other hand, decreased developer costs are good for everyone, so we'll eagerly wait to see where this takes the PS3 in the coming months.

Every time I log in to LIVE you have been on within a few hours or no longer than a day or two so I think your 360 gets more play than you would like to make others think. If it sucked so bad, you would have sold it years ago or not bought it to begin with. All you've done is slam it and say how little you play it since it was released.

It's sitting in my kitchen and my wife uses it every day as a Media Extender. Unfortunately every time you turn on the Media Extender, for some reason it has to log in to live. It works brilliantly as a media extender to play all my networked stuff.

I haven't played a game on it for months, although that'll change once Mass Effect is released.

Huh, I wonder if that's because shooters are a fairly popular genre of game? It won't be much different on the PS3.

To be honest, I wouldn't own a 360 if I hadn't gotten it so cheap. I tend to buy consoles after they have run their course and end up at pawn shops for a few bucks. I do think that it's a pretty spectacular console though and am glad I own it. It's provided many, many hours of entertainment.

I plan on buying one (360) just because it looks like a shitload of fun. I just wish they made more rpg/adventure/RTS for them.

I need to get a PS3, though, because among other reasons already cited, Im sick of my brother wtfpwning my Folding@Home score with his PS3. hahaha

Blue Dragon is spectacular as far as Jap style RPG's go and is HUGE. I've only seen it at a buddies but I know he has like 100+hrs in to it and there is still stuff he has missed. I believe it's an exclusive as well.

The Middle Earth RPG is entertaining but do you really like playing RTS on a console? I don't.

On a console I want driving/flying/fighting/sports/rpg/adventure and FPS games. I can do without simulation. sand box, RTS, puzzle, kids games, MMO's etc on a console as I either don't enjoy them or they are more fun on a computer.

There are actually a wide variety of games out for it but unfortunately Best Buy and the like usually only carry the top 40 or so games for each console so it looks limited.
