Leased cars are not abused. Most people take care of them like their own and some are now on free maintainance service by the dealerships so they can keep tabs on them. They usually have low miles (24k-36k) and the higher end ones are thoroughly inspected. I bought a used BMW off a lease and it's been perfect. I paid half of the cost of a new car since the majority of the depreciation occurs in the first few years. Seriously, it's the best value by far unless you have plenty of money to spend then value is not the issue.

First, I disagree as I've seen how many people treat leased cars firsthand.

Also, many returned leased cars come from rental agencies. Those are some of the most used and abused cars out there and are not worth the potential minimal savings hassel.

I'm talking about a good value in regards to purchasing a car for commuting. If you bought a leased BMW, you probably aren't worried about price, and certainly not about reliability.

I bought my 2000 F-150XL for $6k in 2002 from the company who owned it. It was part of their "fleet" of "work trucks". Considering that they were a suburban IT firm, I knew that I didn't have much to worry about & I was right.

Ok did some research and the best bang for the buck looks to be the Ford Focus ZX4. Seriously though, you're really limiting yourself by only going American. More expensive, less efficient cars. Out of all the cars out there, if you only buy Americans and want a good American car, it's basically like picking corn out of shit.

If I was going to go foreign I would most likely get a Civic.

One of my sisters has a newer civic ('06 I think?") and its not a bad little vehicle I guess for her. Thats the kind of vehicle she needs though, a decent reliable vehicle. If I were her Id have got a 4WD for around here, but whatever, my ears are shut this winter when she bitches and complains with all the other people who buy a little car like that and then cry because they got stuck. And at least the newer ones look halfway spiffy heh

If you want a muscle car get this one, Dodge Challenger SRT. It has a 425hp hemi v8.

Saturn SC1 was the first new car I ever bought myself, and I loved it

great entry level car, and got fantastic mileage in it

I just bought a Saturn Ion. It gets 33-35mpg (highway) from what I've driven so far. It's not hideous, it works and fits my 2 kids. I would assume there is enough headroom for a tall person. There is plenty for me at 5'2. I think ours would have costed a tad less than 20k brand new. I dont know, we added the other cars loan to it so its more.

I also agree with whoever suggested the Mazda 3. I love my mother in laws Mazda 3. She has the 5 door, but I would totally have gotten the 4. It gets about the same gas mileage as my Ion but looks better to me. It fits 4 adults comfortably.

The prices of new vehicles today are ridiculous. I just priced out an F-250 Powerstroke on the Ford website just for fun. I kind of pimped it out, but not that much, and it came to $50k before tax and fees. $50,000 for a fawking truck? /pass

Then I priced the Ford Escape Hybrid, and it came to about $30k, and it even said "towing not recommended." WTF? /pass

Now that I work in the town I live in I bought another Super Duty to replace the gas one I used to own. 7.3 liter PSD, Club Cab (4 full doors) 8 foot box, 3/4 ton, and the previous owner put a Banks Turbo kit in it.

This thing would make Al Gore cry.

the next truck I buy for me will be a diesel.

I bought a new work truck a couple months ago thats a 99' F-350 Super Duty. Had 210,000 miles on it, and the previous company put 3 inches of lift on it. Body and frame in great shape, etc. Runs like a champ, and that thing is a fuckin HORSE. Only paid 5 grand cash for it too at their auction when they closed. KILLER work truck. These diesels just run forever !
