He said it, it's true - and out of context, it sounds pretty lame, I agree.

However, I feel that how it was interpreted is pretty ridiculous (dissected to the point where even some of their own commentators walked off set and said that it was too much) in relation to what was intended behind the words.

In context, to me it was pretty clear that his intent was to say that she's unremarkable in regards to her race, ie, not an extremist. That isn't offensive at all, to say someone is your average person.

Taken out of context, it's easy to assume what was meant. The wording there was poor; Obama is, after all, only human, and in relation to the multiple verbal blunders our current president has made, this is far more minor and insignificant, imo at least. In that regard, it does make me giggle a little bit at people who praise and rejoice at Bush's feet (the more extreme Fox News commentators), a man who has entire books citing thousands of quotes of pure idiocy, picking apart and taking something like this to such extremes.

while some of her points are valid, overall that was a whole tirade of spewing based on the three words taken out of context - even though she has the whole quote there, she focuses on those 3 words. anyone who reads the ENTIRE quote and still doesn't get what he was saying is either a) a moron or b) just wants something to nitpick. I'd say it for black or white - some of the stuff just doesn't matter and people need to get off their high horses.

What kills me is that people are actually comparing the words out of context to the Ferraro ordeal which was clearly intentioned with no ifs and or buts about it. Had Obama come out and said Hillary is only as far as she is because she's a woman, white people are only in places of power because history says so.. those would be different statements and could be interpreted as badly. He didn't say anything of the sort.

It seems to be a trend over the last few years that since one side of the fence has been unwarranted in some instances of overzealous cries of racism, the other side can go ahead and take part in the same practice.

All this has led to is a bunch of blithering idiots crying racism on both sides when none has been uttered - the problem here isn't white vs. black, the problem here is ignorance and self pity vs. common sense and self respect, and it's a problem no one, white, black, hispanic, chinese, or any other color of the rainbow can seem to get past, especially in the states. It's the sue sue sue get rich quick blame someone else mentality that the US has adopted, and it's fucking pathetic.

Wow that lady is insane. Reading some of the blogs she links to her site was good for a few laughs too.

This is what goes for objectivity on Internet these days I guess. Anyone can get their opinion reinforced by morons.

This is what passes as satire to some. It always makes me laugh when right-wing folk try their hand at comedy. I'm reminded of it regularly with Lyion, unfortunately.

Bullshit. You parrot conservative talking points in many of your posts.
