Because I don't take issue with the mention of the bracelet by either man, what I take issue with is the apparent lack of respect in not bothering to remember the soldiers name without having to read it off the bracelet. I wouldn't even really take issue with the mother's seeming reversal of stance in regards to how it was used had it not been for his trouble in remembering her son's name.

Considering that one of these men will most likely be the next POTUS, I'm glad mothers have given both of the bracelets to serve as a reminder of the human factor in the decisions they will make. I would expect them to reflect on this, and an explanation of their positions to include it. When however he can't remember the soldiers name, it seems very disingenuous, and disrespectful. If it had been my loved one I would have taken it as a slap in the face, that she did not, that she reverses her standing on the issue points to being so enamored even in this he could do no wrong.

Oh give it a fucking rest already. No one is buying your faux outrage over this. He slipped up.

End of story.

Tossica I have in no way fabricated my views on the matter in the least. Have you (or anyone for that matter) actually seen the debate in video format and honestly believe he just stumbled over his words and wasn't pausing to read the name off the bracelet?

"my Muslim faith." and "57 states" were slip ups (actually the latter may have been an intentional joke), this was something entirely different.

This is a crock of shit point to be stuck on. He's been wearing the fucking bracelet since March. Do you HONESTLY think he doesn't know the dead soldiers name? HONESTLY? Yes, I watched the video, he looked down at his bracelet exactly as McCain did and recited the name.

Did he stumble his words? Yes. Did he purposely intend to disrespect the man that gave his life for his country? FUCK NO. I'm sure he did not intend on having to reference the bracelet during the debate and wanted to make sure he didn't fuck it up.

The simple fact that you are arguing about braceletgate instead of... I don't know... anything else... shines a light on how shallow this election has become.

I'm voting for Obama because he has less gray hair on his head. He also plays basketball, which is my favorite sport. Also, Gyps has this cool animated GIF where he brushes off the haters and I thought that was cool. Finally, Obama sort of rhymes with Llama; and those are cool animals.

Lue, if you want to talk about disrespect, lets do that about the two people in question. Why did McCain never look at Obama? Why does McCain radiate I'm better than you attitudes? I watched the entire debate and McCain was a disrespectful old man set in his ways refusing to let go of his past even though he says he wants change. He reminded me of my dead grandfather who frankly was a dick. McCain is the perfect example of the old phrase, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

I already mentioned that previously.

Lueyen wrote:Well I finally watched it all the way through. I suspect McCain not looking at Obama was a method to help him to keep from losing his temper. If I'm right about this though I have to ask the question if this is how he would approach foreign dignitaries he didn't care for. Of course in disrespectful gestures one must also include Obama's frequent references to McCain as "John" instead of Senator something McCain always did.

I guess I have far different priorities, because a presidential candidates lack of respect toward soldiers killed in combat in their service to this country weighs a lot more heavily in my mind than any disrespect shown toward their political opponents.

Uh, I didn't see any lack of respect towards a slain soldier whatsoever. I saw someone, in the middle of the heat of a debate, want to make sure he got the name exactly correct. In short, it looked like a momentary brain fart, where you lose your train of thought and need to reset to get it back.

I have yet to see him commit a single act of disrespect towards any soldier, slain or otherwise. I think you're grasping at straws here, and are automatically supplying the most detrimental possible interpretation, because it fits your pre-conceived notions.

I think your perception of disrespect is skewed by your dislike for the man. McCain did the SAME EXACT THING, in fact, he glanced at it several times before he said the name.

You are smarter than this. Certainly there has GOT to be something else that you can use as ammo? Right?

There's just something about obama that makes me not trust him. No, it's not because he's black, and it's not because he's a closet muslim. He just has an air about him that is totally untrustworthy. I can't say the same for McCain. If obama DOES lose the election, you can bet that he's going to try to buy the election with his attorneys, like algore's pathetic attempt. Then if that fails, he's going to play the race card and announce that the only reason he lost is because he's black. LOL

You both want to point out that my own bias might skew my perception, I wonder if your own skews yours? Remember I'm not fond of, nor do I plan to vote for either candidate, frankly that puts me in a position of more objectivity.

I've posted several things I was critical of for each candidate, the bracelet seemed to be the topic of interest.

Yeah, except you are using how he looked at his bracelet and stammered a bit in a stressful public forum as proof that he doesn't have respect for the soldiers that have died in the war. That's some pretty weak shit dude. If you were sane, you'd realize that.

You may not be voting for either candidate but I'd be willing to bet that McCain more closely matches your views than Obama. The thing is though, anyone that votes for more of the last 8 years of ass raping we've taken by voting for McCain and isn't a millionaire is going to be suspect of mental retardation. I wouldn't expect you to admit you voted for him even if you did. Mindia has made it clear that McCain is still his man but he has always been suspect so that's no surprise. I would guess there are not too many others on this board that are willing to admit they support the GOP at this point.

Dude all people like Lueyen do is read forums and news all day long and sit around forever and think about how to perfectly word it in their internet forum warz. If anyone here that talks all this political jargon were in either candidate's place at the debate, you damn well know they'd be looking at their bracelets, too. It's such an immature and unimportant thing to care about

NOT voting for either one of them would be a retarded choice. If you vote for a 3rd party candidate you are throwing your vote away. I like Ron Paul the best out of all of them, but Ron doesn't have a chance in hell of winning. None of the 3rd party candidates has a chance in hell of winning. I learned my lesson in 92 when I voted for Perot, and we ended up getting stuck with the most corrupt and morally-bankrupt asshole of a president this country has ever seen.

Furthermore, I'm not jumping up and down cheering for McCain. I just think I know what we'll get with him... a man who loves this country, and a man who "reaches across the aisle" to get things accomplished. I don't see McCain as "Bush 3" at all. Obama is a gamble... a HUGE gamble that I'm not willing to take. I am endorsing McCain because of that.

wow. just wow. it's people like you, that base a president's effeciency off who he fucks, that ruin this country. like vegas, keep what happens in the bedroom IN THE BEDROOM so economically and socially-unaware people like Narrock don't waste even more of their useless minds on equally useless topics

Clinton was the best thing that happened to this country in the last 20 years in the eyes of the world and you're just a typically stupid American if you can't see that

Damn right. I got into it with my brother about that very same subject yesterday. He keeps talking about throwing his vote away so I let him have it a bit.
