I used to use it a lot, but then they put so many features and shit into it that I cant hardly figure out where the fuck im going in it. I check it every week or two just to see if any far off friends wanna talk or to look at women. It was a great tool to pick up women when Iw as in college, because ALL girls have one rofl. "Oh hey whats up add me I passed you on campus the other day and just happpened to see your picture on a friends profile, im not stalking you or anything and searching through picture after picture to figure out who you are and to see if I could fuck you or not or anything like that k bye"

I mainly haven't posted anything cause I log into facebook once in a blue moon, and the account I had when I worked there doesn't exist any more, because it was based on a facebook email that got shut down when I left.

I started off using myspace, which I like better...contrary to most everyone here. I like the customizations you can do with the page that even a noob like me can do to make it look nice. I've got a Facebook page, but hardly go there to mess around with it.

It's funny, I still catch some of my friends from EQ calling me "Icc" or "Icca" even though we've known each other by our real names for a while now. Doesn't bother me or make me feel like less of a "real" person. Hell, I think I really only know 2-3 people's real names on this board so far.

the EQ name stuck, and even tho I know the real name, it doesn't seem right, heh

I don't think that is fair to think that Drem, I could see folks getting pissed off and doing things that you shouldn't cropping a head of someone here onto someone elses body and posting it on the net, doing searches for real names to find address's, phone numbers, etc.

Why would you care if I'm a 40 year old fat guy vs some 40 year hot body model type (btw I'm the latter of those /snicker). I posted my picture once on these boards and removed it after a couple weeks. Call me paranoid /shrug. Hell I even take all my kids school assignments they've completed, the daily stuff that the wife and I don't want, and we cut out the names off every sheet before we put it in the recycle bin. Again call me paranoid but I don't want our garbage man or anyone else finding a sheet of paper that has my kids first and last name on it along with the school they go to.

I'd have to think pretty hard to know who is who on these boards and some of you post RL names semi often. Other than the mods, I doubt anyone here even knows my RL name.

These boards also aren't "secure", they are open to the public (I thought) except the everything else and maybe a couple other forums, so again, I can see why folks enjoy the anonimty.

i'll just never understand that level of paranoia. i could care less. and nothing's ever happened to me. if it does in the future, i'll probably deserve it. because that's how that works

I hear you though and I along with many IT folks are probably overly paranoid but often times that is because we see and know what can happen with something as simple as a picture of someones face.

i just don't worry about myself that much. if someone wants to take my face and ruin my life then go for it. i just don't think i'll ever have that sort of luck. out of the hundreds of people that I know personally that use these services, the worst thing that's ever happened is a random account hack. and that only happened on myspace

Well that's the thing and I don't mean to harp on this but, it is what you don't know that can hurt you.

I had someone steal my soc # in Cali or someplace out west and I didn't know about it until I got the job I have now and when they did my background check that asked how long I worked in Cali. So for example lets say this person out there hacked your account, maybe they got your RL name, address, I don't know, but how would you know if they aren't claiming they are you when they fill out forms or do who knows what.

Again, I won't disagree that I'm probably overly paranoid, but I don't see anything wrong with my paranoia level either.

i think we just view it differently..... this type of thing doesn't concern me at all.

i could get hit by a car when i walk across the street later today. so should i never walk across the street again? if someone has my information, or hacked my accounts, or my computer, then i'll wait til something bad actually happens before i care about it. i don't like feeling worried or paranoid about anything. period. so i avoid being that way

it happens, sure, but like he used in his example.. so does getting hit by a car. as I remember, someone made a stamp out of Jay's signature - not exactly something that happens from a picture posted on the interweb.

yes, i realise it's completely possible. but i also believe in karma and i've got no reason to be worried

i have the same attitude as drem about such things. i know people who refuse to shop online or sign up for facebook or myspace because of huuuge paranoia and i'm just like "meh" about it. *shrug*

i've even had something happen to me before! when i was in 8th grade, a kid i knew through a friend photoshopped my head onto a naked body and emailed it around. very embarrassing, but i survived, so whatevs. i guess i just don't see how photoshopping could ruin your life. hell, that one picture of sarah palin's head photochopped onto the bikini body with the gun was almost seamless and it didn't really do anything to her. of course, she had a team of people working to disprove it, but i'm just saying, photoshopping is NOT that big a deal.
