Blerg. I need to find a smith. Enjoying the crap out of this game. I need to find better weapons though. Winged Spear isn't cutting it. I have the drake sword, but I need two hands to use it properly and I wasted all its durability. Bleh. I might just buy a scimitar since it has a higher scaling DEX stat and my DEX is already like 24.

Raise your str. :)

You aren't far from a smith. Go down from the main bonfire.

I'd rather raise my faith since I think I'm going to go that route.

Just use the morning star you can get by going up the stairs from the main bonfire and dropping down in the elevator shaft. It hits hard and has low stat requirements.

What class did you choose when you started?

I have the morningstar. it's ok but the dmg bonus from the Winged Spear is much better. I'm not having trouble with it, I just want better. Something shinny that I would consider upgrading (if I can find someone to do that).

I started out as a warrior. Regret not going Thief though. They seem to get a lot of nice persk to start. My warrior got nothing but a plain Longsword and some leather armor. I have a feeling i'll be fighting Gargoyles soon from perusing the FAQs? Gargoyle axe looks like it might be a keeper for me. This game is making my work day suck.

You are too fun to play game, you're making me hate my work more!

If you took the master key, go get Artorias' sword. Really, any weapon you have at this point in the game is fine. Once you get through the Church, you'll have easy access to a blacksmith and can upgrade whatever you're using, making a huge difference.

I didn't take the key~

I assumed the key was an expendable item like a Legend of Zelda key, so I took a ring thats supposed to give me HP regen. Instead it gives me a straight +30 to hp which isn't terrible.

Total suck. Start over and take the key or be a thief. Seriously.

Request refused! I will stick it out. Apparently the key is available somewhere now. I shall find it and then I will have this Artorios sword you speak of!

By the time you get the key, you won't be concerned with the sword.

He can still get the sword once he gets to blightown. Drake sword is more than enough anyway til you get lightning spear in sen's fortress. But yea theres a smith below firelink in new londo for repairs

Got to the smith under the undead parish. Now I just need to kill those Gargoyles. Fun fun fun.

Are you doing any jolly co-operation? If not, you should. It's really one of the most enjoyable parts of the game. I generally leave my summon sign down at all times. You get practice runs at all the bosses and get a large amount of souls if you're successful. If you die, nothing is lost.

I don't want to deal with invaders so I'm never human. Come to think of it I don't even know how to become human. There must be an item to do that eh?

Aye, the fact that the game allows (and even seems to encourage) the ability for random people to come gank you is an absolute deal-breaker for me. Will never play a game like that, ever. Same reason I would never play on a PVP server in a MMO.

I'm like you Arlos and really, it isn't necessary at all. This is just a high fantasy, action-adventure game with the tightest controls I have ever played, and some really excellent presentation. Music, and art is just the best I've seen. It's like Legend of Zelda but dark and awesome and pushed to 11. The PVP is all an aside for me.

the pvp is one of the best parts of the game imo, now that i'm getting over reservations like arlos' and trying to understand it. it's not like some shitty MMO, anyway, it's more like playing street fighter. it's intense and i'm pretty sure people do tournaments and have fight clubs.

you eventually get tired of running the story

you're still fresh and not even to the depths yet so i don't expect you to understand or care about pvp. i dont think i even summoned someone til i was in the depths. but it ties into advancement for a lot of the covenants, and summoning someone for co-op is just awesome, even it's only solaire. it's nice to have another target for the mobs to aggro. you'll also get nice items from the NPC invaders that you'll run into that simulate online pvp. and it's always fun when you got 2 dudes summoned and someone tries to invade and you just totally rape them

you reverse hollowing at bonfires, btw. you can lay your summon sign down and get summoned while being hollowed (use white sign soapstone from solaire) but you can only see other summon signs and summon people to your world if you're human

You only need to turn human to invite others in to your game which you will have to do in order to beat the later bosses. You will give up playing the game out of frustration early on if you don't figure out how to manage the multiplayer part of the game.

You can lay down your summon stone, (The one the Knight Solaire gave you after you finished your conversation with him) when you're undead and others can summon you to their game.

I can't stress enough how integral and brilliant the whole multiplayer aspect of the game is. Start letting others summon you and you'll get the idea. It's amazing.

Arlos, don't be a pussy. If someone invades your game, you kick their fucking ass and laugh or you get your ass kicked and do it over again. It's not that big of a deal. It adds some serious tension and sense of accomplishment to the game. When you have 2 "friends" summoned in to your game to help you and some jackass invades you and gets his ass handed to him, it's a big "high five" moment and adds a huge amount of emotion to the game.

I did Demon's Souls without Co-op. I'm sure I'll be fine. I do plan on playing around with it a bit. I realise now I can use my humanity instead if ut all going to waste. Didn't know that before. I'd just accumulate it for a while and evenutally die twice in a row and lose it all.

You will not finish the game without help through summoning other players or at the very bare minimum, summoning Solaire and the other NPC's that can help. Demon's Souls is a joke compared to this game as far as bosses go. Have fun though!

When your next level costs 100,000 souls, good luck farming 500 soul monsters when you could just do some co-op, kill some bosses and make 20-50K a pop.

Seriously, just do it. There's really nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I forgot the other major reason to reverse hollowing! Kindling the bonfires! Tired of only having 5 swigs of your Estes flask? Kindle your bonfire.
