Its a multifaceted problem with ACA. It's not just the incompetence behind the designers of the website, who have tried to pass it off as "technical glitches" and a 600 million dollar website to boot, but I've read countless reports of victims who got duped into thinking they were getting a solid health plan but it ends up that the exchanged plans were chock full of nice surprises, such as massive increases to their deductibles, higher copays, loss of their favorite doctor who they've known for years, etc. and now they can't go back. This is not an evil FOX report. This is being reported by hundreds of news organizations across the country. Google it. Yes, your mom is one of the lucky few who are actually benefitting from this debacle called the ACA.

Have you paid attention to anything I've said? And no I haven't looked at the exchanges because I CAN'T. In order to view or peruse the exchanges, you have to create a profile which includes your name, address, phone number, social security number, and bank account info. Fuck that. Feel free to post screen shots of various exchange plans here, and I will read them.

C'mon man... retarded? Really? The main ACA website is the one I was actually referring to, and yes it did require all that info to be able to view the exchanges.
Anyway, it was just as I expected... astronomically higher than what we're paying now for 4 adults and 1 child under 18, in our income bracket, under the same insurer we have now (Blue Shield of California), our monthly premium goes up 70% on the exchanges for the "Silver 70" plan, to 92% for the "platinum plan." ROFL.
We're paying $362/no for all of us, and that includes dental and vision. For the same plan thru the exchanges, the monthly premium goes up to a range of $1217-$2003.
WHERE DO I SIGN!!!!! Roflmfao!!!!!

YOUR CURRENT PLAN COSTS ABOUT THE SAME BUT YOUR EMPLOYER PAYS THE REST OF THE PREMIUMS.
It's called a BENEFIT and some employers provide it.
If you don't have access to health care from your employer, you now DO and a gold plan with ZERO deductible for a family of 3 making $80k a year is around $1000 a month. That's expensive but now at least you have the OPTION without them being able to deny you based on preexisting conditions or be able to drop you because you are costing them too much money. Why the fuck anyone would argue against this is mind boggling. It's not perfect and I would have FAR preferred a single payer option but it's a hell of a lot better than what we had.
Its still fucked up that obama is playing Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and middle class and giving that money in the form of subsidies to the lower class. That's why I can't stand socialism and socialist/liberal leaders and that whole redistribution of wealth crap.

dear trucker: stop driving on my roads if you're so against socialism. i paid for those too and you use them way more than me, you socialist road-hogger.

uhhh lol if you think they don't have access to that info already idiot
This doesnt have much relevance to the conversation, but I just thought Id rant about something because Im bored and not much is going on at work today.
Motherfucker motherfuckermotherfucker. I have ANOTHER meeting tomorrow with ANOTHER insurance company. I cant afford our current insurance because I have recently been informed that to continue with our current insurance company, my shit is hiking its way up 47% for next year. Now thats a pain in the ass. Great insurance plan, but gadamn just cant afford it now. All to keep my 8 employees with insurance, which is a promise I made myself when we started this shindig, that my guys would never worry about having their insurance cut or done away with. Ill go out of business before I tell them its gone. Now they are all pissed because Im dropping to a lesser policy Ahh the joys of business.
Yeah you are a good man for keeping your word. And now you are feeling the aftermath of how the democrats fuck with business owners with their relentless taxation. Fucking obama and crew. /sigh

Well Im staying out of the political side of this. Bitching about who did what and whos fault it is wont do any good, and I dont know enough about the politics behind it TO bitch because Id just make myself look stupid anyways in doing it. All I know is i WILL figure something out one way or another, because Ive always believed if you bust your ass for me at work, you deserve to not have to worry about something like insurance.
My shop foreman's wife has been battling cancer the past year or two and if I was a big dickhead and cut his shit, he would be absolutely fucked. No way could I ever do that to someone whos been with me since day 1 and never missed a day of work no matter how sick, tired, or whatever he is.
Ill put it to you this way, I care so much about Larry and his wife that Ive spent in the ballpark of $25,000 of my own money and the companies money in helping him with his bills and all that while shes been in the hospital, and with medical bills that he still has so he doesnt get in trouble with anyone. Same with Chris, another guy thats been here since day 1. He has bad stomach probs and has to miss work a bit here and there. When they get in a bind, they know they can come to me for help. They never get zeroed for missing days because of their problems either, I always still pay them for it without a penalty.
Sometimes, you gotta give back and not be Mr. Hard Ass Businessman. If you do...well...what comes around goes around. Thats why they will break their backs for me and I love them to death for it.
Your treatment of your employees is absolutely commendable. You don't have to be political Gaazy. Just do 5 minutes of googling, and you'll discover how the democrats are terrible for business owners. They give all the tax breaks to the unions, who pad their pockets well. And what happens when taxes raise? Business owners have to compensate for that, so they are forced to raise prices on goods and services. Well, this is a whole different discussion.

employers with < 50 employees do not legally have to provide a lick of insurance; no one, democrat or republican, is forcing him to do anything at all for his crew of 8
those premiums are going up because poorly-regulated insurance companies are gouging the shit out of anyone they can
(this is why we need real 100% universal health care, not this corrupt capitalist bullshit)

oh. because roads are necessary infrastructure, but the ability to live healthily without it sending you into bankruptcy is uh...
..unnecessary?
just because YOU deem it necessary does not make it so. it is entirely possible to live without roads, albeit inconvenient. guess what it's not entirely possible to live without? medical care when you have cancer.

I'll remember you said that when the roads are so bad that it takes a hell of a lot longer to get hospitals their medical supplies.

I honestly don't even know why after 10 years I still make any attempt to engage you in conversation when you seem to lose more brain cells each year. I disappoint myself by responding to you every single time.
