Not only the greatest FOOTBALL PLAYER ever...

He ranks fifth on my greatest athlete of the 20th century list.

There are plenty of other great backs, but he's in a different league. If you wanted to argue Craig for best back 'besides' Brown, I'd still say you are smoking crackrock but at least you could come up with some sort of credible argument. Craig couldn't block, rush, catch, tackle, run, eat, fuck, piss as far and won't even outlive Jim Brown. Argue Roger Craig vs O.J. and... we'll still shoot you down but at least there is a comparison.

This is like arguing Clyde Drexler over Wilt Chamberlain.
or
Brett Hull over Wayne Gretsky.
or
Evander Holyfield over Ali.
or
Rafael Palmero over Hank Aaron.
or
Arnold vs Me (bodybuilding).

back on topic...

Ricky Williams sucks.

your saying someone like Oscar Roberston wasn't as good as jordan .

Oscar is the best overall player in NBA history.

There are best at positions or best to win championships with and there are the BEST

Jordan is a close second and wilt is a close 3rd to Oscar.

averaging a triple double for 8 years its a tad better than any other player

and if you think roger wasn't good Vonk i think you should go talk to those that played him,.

The play that i remember most from Stever was that 48 yard TD run against the Vikings (i believe) where he did literally make the defense all miss twice hehe

bingo arlos... with jerry and taylor doing those quick slants you can't blitz, if you don't stack 8 in the box you couldn't stop sanders if he was there, cause they coudln't stop roger, or even rathman (if was the starting RB)

ah the glory days

Uh... what does Oscar Robertson have anything to do with this? I'm probably his biggest fan on NT.

Comparing Roger Craig to Oscar Robertson is foolish. NOBODY... repeat... NOBODY would put Craig in the top 5 running backs of all time... NOBODY (let alone, top 5 all-NFL). Google it yourself and show me a list that puts him above Brown, Sanders or Payton. It's impossible. On the other hand, MANY people, including myself, would put the Big-O in the top 5 for the NBA (let alone Guards).

Brown was a better blocker, rusher and runner (what he does with the ball AFTER he catches it).

If Craig was a better short-pass receiver, how does that win him over?

If you had a choice between having Jim Brown in his prime, in his day... or Roger Craig, in his prime, in his day... on your team, it's Brown, hands down. In Craig's day, there were 5 other backs that you could possibly want... depending on the rest of the team. In Browns day, there wasn't a single player... of any position... give or take TEN YEARS that a coach would want over him.

I can't think of a single category that Craig beats Brown in, besides shot-pass receiving... which wasn't really asked of from backs in those days... What else is there, which back was whiter? Shrug... Craig I guess.
