i honestly could not tell you how a discipline or holy specced priest would work out. i was shadow 100% basically a second rate mage with healing buffing and resing capabilities. i was much more durable than my rogue, hunter or warlock.

priest is very good solo if specced right and never wants for a group. overall a great class.

That's how I would play. Ever since D&D Ive been pissed that every game after has basically made healers fucking pussies. Priests/Clerics etc are supposed to be healing badasses. Not pussy heal bots like in EQ

Once again, what the fuck do you expect a priest to be? Do you expect them to heal tank and nuke? I think that would be a little imbalanced. If you don't want to be a healer then don't play a priest, it's that simple. If you want to be able to heal and do other stuff then play a druid or a shaman.

My cleric in neverwinter nights is what I want a priest to be. And it isnt imbalanced in the least bit. That's what they should be and have been mostly up until EQ took a shit all over them.

Think of what a dungeons and dragons cleric is, there's my idea of a priest/cleric.

priests are not a heal bitch unbless they choose to be.


if you spec shadow you are not automatically pushed into a sub-par healing role since the healing talents are not really that "omg wow"

solo play i of course tanked, duo play i always tanked period unless grouped with a warrior (paladins healed me, i damaged and taunted)

group play is the only time i would slide into the heal bot role, but with vampiric embrace i kept healing to a minimum through basically group lifetaps. I REALLY like how the WoW priest works, combine their unique abilities with pvp and they are even better.


of course, i also revel in being offensive when playing mmorpgs, so i took great pleasure in playing a priest due to the fact, people would do stupid shit that in general pisses priests off (or any healer class in any mmo). things like "HEAL ME OMG" when they are at 75% life, or demand buffs non stop. Being the stupid asshole that I am with a juvenille sense of humor, i took great pleasure in playing a priest with that sort of landscape. like the overnuking mage, not only would they not get healed, they would be running back to the group, "no ress for joo!, asshole". the warrior would would spam "heal me!!!!" whenever he lost like one fucking hitpoint, grats shadowform asshole, hopes joo got bandaids. it was lots of great fun.

I remember doing that in EQ... refusing to heal those who overaggro'd and shouldn't be tanking. and refusing to run around after a mob when someone starts pingponging everywhichway... pissed me the fuck off.

I'm in the very pleasant conundrum(sp wtf) where I'm having a tough time choosing which class I want to play on release

I think I could very happily play Priest, Rogue, Shaman or Hunter, and still have a lot of flexibility to how I want to play


It's nice that WoW doesn't pigeon hole you into choosing group friendly OR solo friendly

I should've waited to get home to write more on this but was at work I didn't mean to say i'm just a heal bot BUT like Taxx has said "what do you expect?" In a group with me as only healer of course I slide into healer role BUT I do other things like mind control, dot and I like to melee. I duo mainly with Ven (rogue or his warrior) and i'm meleeing right next to him and tossing in heals as need be. I love that I can solo when I feel like it and get pretty much an instant group when I want. Shadow spec is way cool and with being able to reset talents in testing, i'd shadow spec to solo then go back to a mix holy spec in instances. Of course, i'll have to stick to one go live but hey it was fun while it lasted.

Anyhow, there is more to them BUT don't go play a priest if you don't want to heal it's pretty plain and simple.

haha Amen! My favorites have always been the people that run around all over the place screaming to get it off them or heal them.

I dont mind healing in the least bit, that's fine.

But I dont want that being my only use, and now that I know it isnt so....I am happy still.

no class really has just 1 use in wow.
