You're missing the point Gypsiyee... typically a NWS tag generally came with something rather light - yet still not something you'd want your boss to see you looking at. Most people clicked on them because they didn't expect it to be as explicet (sp) as what we just saw in the posts that were moved.

Someone can add a pr0n link or anything questionable underneath the title and it'll not be the original posters intent. That's what happened with Pauls thread.
Completely unmoderated means completely unmoderated.
That means absolutely anything that isn't illegal or someones personal info can be posted.
I'm not personally for that, as I think Everything Else should allow complete free speech but not the pr0n, Fefn, or Anything for Anyone format material that we didn't want there in the past.

The only moderation I personally feel should be in EE is the marking of said posts if they aren't properly marked.

Lightly Mdoerated(heheh) EE

Again, that would require me going in to moderate posts where someone down the thread decides to post pr0n or other things. That is moderation.
Likewise, are we setting a rule where only an original post can contain pr0n? That would also be moderation. Since the original poster did not add NWS since at that time it was not....
I'm the one who added the Tags to Pauls original thread that was hijacked with pr0n.
So, either it is no holds barred or it isn't. You can't really have it halfway, IMO.

Then make it a rule that all NWS stuff has to be a link and not right there in your face.
Everyone knows how a thread on moon exploration can turn into a discussion of religion or football or sex or anything else around here. You can't blame people for being curious about what's being said.

I disagree with you completely. NWS is not open to your interpretation, it is a simple three word phrase that conveys a very simple message:

NOT WORK SAFE
This doesn't mean "hehe, might not be safe for work, better not clicky while the boss is around." It means it could run the gamut from a picture of Britney's latest nipple slip to a 100-man gay bukkake fest.

this completely ruins the impact of posting graphic/hilarious pictures for effect

I don't think a NWS tag should be necessary at all.
If you surf at work, go fuck yourself if you whine.

I agree with Fefn.
Let's not link shit. I like the snap of grossness in some sick way. It just doesn't have that kick with only links. Besides, half the funny on this board is directly due to internet morons like myself being able to directly link pictures.

Incorrect.
Anything for Anyone came FIRST. There was ONE forum originally, and then I split it, specifically to give the cat-crew their own space. The original intent was to give 'them' a place that they could call their own... let them do shit how they want. And now, after a fuckload of work... they run things on their own. They even moderate it. Awesome. Cat-crew taken care of.
Back to the 'original' AFA (now named EE). Un-fucking-moderated. I didn't see the picture in question... and I probably would have deleted it if I had. That's not the question here... EE *was designed* as the ANYTHING FOR ANYONE forum. To keep SHIT out of Current Affairs. Think back 4 years ago. There was ONE CA forum. No entertainment... no Sports... nothing. EVERYTHING was discussed in CA. That's pretty much what EE has become, but that's not by design.
What you are proposing is no different than what was originally designed. People can talk about what they want if it's appropriate - IN THE APPLICABLE FORUMS. If it becomes inappropriate, it's dumped into the catch-all forum.
If you want a moderated, goofing-off 'chatting' forum, that's fine. I'll create one. But EE was fucking designed, and it should remain, as the UNTOUCHED forum for EVERYTHING ELSE. ANYTHING FOR ANYONE. If the thread title says, FUCKING SICK, DON'T CLICK... and you are on a computer at a public library... don't fucking click on it.

By giving someone a choice if they want to follow a link to someone taking a shit, rather than it popping in their face?
Sorry if I disagree completely with your side here.

Grim, people surf at work when it's slow.. that isn't going to change. What else am I going to do when I run out of things to do or have downtime in between projects.. twiddle my thumbs so people don't think I'm fucking off? Shake some papers around so I look busy? That's just as productive as browsing forums, ie, not productive at all.
Why are people looking at the anything goes forum at work?
I look at EE forums at work.. they're the busiest and most amusing to me. I don't particularly mind the gross stuff because if I see a post that says it isn't work safe, lord knows I don't trust the people of NT to post mild NWS stuff. Still, a NWS tag is something that's important, I think.

So this is going to become a freedom of speech debate?

I wouldn't really even say this should be debated, the only thing that should be moderated is adding of NSFW tags on posts.

Fin, you know damned good and well, that if you had a cush, sit-down-on-your-ass-all-day desk job that dealt with being in front of the computer all frikken day long with internet access, had all your work done, and nothing else to do, you sure as fuck would be sitting there checking email, surfing the web, and reading NT, just like you do at home. The ONLY reason you don't is because the work you do, when you do it, doesn't involve a computer and a desk.
And if you say "no I wouldn't," you're a liar. You are a computer geek. You
know would.

I agree. Things are as they should be. It aint broke, don't fix it.
If people want 'another' forum that is 'less' of a 'catch-all'... then by all means, I'll make it. I'll rename EE to something more offensive... so people know what they are getting into... and this 'new' forum will be the CLEAR choice for sitting around and chatting.
