Quantum physics boyyeee. Particles dont just follow one path. They follow every single possible path to their destination, simultaneously.

Time travel is not possible.

I thought we ditched the theory that matter can not be made or destroyed?

Going to try and find out where I got that from.

I have it in a book somewhere in my house, I can't for the life of me remember which.

that theory is not ditched. Well, in the case of a black hole, it gets fuzzy. I guess hawking has recently come out and said that black holes are finite in age, and would eventually die, and disperse all the matter that they sucked in in their lives back into the universe. Shrug. Other than that, matter and energy are two sides of an equation, and as far as I know still cant be created or destroyed, just converted into energy or back into matter. Im such a noobie at this stuff though half of what I just said may be wrong.

DESX wrote:Exmple: you travel at 10% the speed of light to proxima centauri on a space ship at age 7 when you got their and back you would be 15 years old but you would be a few days younger then your brother.

Now let's say for example that you traveled at 100% the speed of light and you wanted to go to proxima centauri on a space ship (closest star to our sun) and you where 1 year old and your twin stayed on earth and was also 1 year old. By the time you got their and back you would be 1.0108 years old and your twin would be 9.8452. This is all from Eienstiens theory of "time dialation". The closer we get to traveling at the speed of light the more time would slow down for us relative to something not moving.

To make it as simple as possible: Time can slow down but never go backwards.

but stephen hawking said you can't go the speed of light.... As you approach the speed of light your mass increases and then as you reach the speed of light your mass becomes infinite right?

So spee dof light travle is impossible? Therefore time travel is irrelevant for everyone except Horrendus and I.

This thread sucks. I've ingested to much terrelian brandy and my intellect has far surpassed you all.

Actually the latest theory says that black holes don't 'absorb' matter and energy > than their mass could withstand. Basically - a black hole is a super dense sphere of matter and energy, it has a high gravitational pull, but it has polarities, and whatever gets drawn to it, only a portion of the drawn matter/energy gets captured, the rest gets repelled at extremely high velocity. let me see if I can find that article. (p.s. that is just a theory, not fact that I know of)

Well the whole Hitler thing is something my Grandfather brought up. He said "suppose that by killing Hitler a new human monster worse than he was comes into being, what would removing him do? If God wanted him dead for a reason he would have killed him off in the first place."

Oh I forgot, the concept of a being more powerful than a human in the entirety of existence is impossible!

Have you ever sat and thought of the ignorance you're stuck in sometimes?

As for the subject of time travel, I don't personally believe it is possible to go back in time. I do believe forward time travel is possible.

Of course he did. We are all just puppets, subject to the whims of an invisible all powerful being that no one has ever seen heard felt or spoken to. But he's there! And he loves you (unless youre a German jew in 1939, or a baby with cancer, or Harrison)! And he needs money!

Because they are time travelers and they know what the future will bring?

Because they are time travelers and can correct any mistakes they make before we become aware of the mistakes by traveling back in time and correcting the mistakes they made?

Because time travelers do not want to be found?
