Article over the coming race issues.

Why do you so readily wrap your arms around what the media tells you? Listen to your consience and you'll find this isn't a racial disaster, it's a human tragedy. Stuff a fuckin sock in your media inputs and look at it for what it really is, poor people, under extreme pressure, trying to survive...and an inept government system trying to save face and save the people..in that order.
I am sad to be an American today.

OK folks a little history from someone who lives here and has most of his life.
Orleans Parish is primarily black probably to the tune of 90%. There is a reason for this... the LAST few mayors Mark Morial and his father Dutch Morial (but not Ray Nagin who is black, but is a business man and does not share the belief that Orleans should be owned, operated and controled by blacks) literally drove the white people out of Orleans Parish. Overtaxation of valued property, crime, corruption, poor education system, and blatant discrimination caused almost every white person in Orleans Parish to move out years ago. We who live in the area have known about it for all those years, we never made much of a big deal of it because there were better places to live than in the middle of NOLA anyways. Cities like Metairie in the east, and Belle Chasse in the west, and Hammond and Covington on the north shore of Lake Pontchatrain became the havens for white people.
It only stands to reason that the people stuck in Orleans Parish would be primarily black, the population as a whole was primarily black.
The conspiracy is not that they caused the hurricane (or the war in Iraq for that matter) it is that they are given contracts without fair practice and do not have to be compete with anyone else because the VP of the country is a VP of their company.
PS, KBR showed up here in Plaquemines a few hours ago, I had to laugh when they were told that they would not be allowed roam the streets without passes and they would have to sit and wait for the Parish President's approval just like everyone else. You might get the contract without any competition, but be damned if you are going to subvert our rules. We are ahead of the curve on most of this, and to be honest we have no need for Haliburton or any of its overcharging subsidiaries to come in and fuck shit up and charge us 10x the going rate for their services. Personally I hope Benny (Parish Pres) tells them to go fuck themselves, I doubt he will, but I would love to see it. They are still sitting on the steps of the government building cooling their heels as I write this.

As much as I hate to say it yes Haliburton will profit from this disaster. Thing is it's difficult to prove conspiracy when the prime suspect is a hurricane

The object of life is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather to come screaching in to the grave sidelong in a beatup wreck of a body, loudly proclaiming "WOW What a ride!"

Yep, what are you gonna do about it?

I voted for the other guy, didn't help, but it was something.
I stood outside and laughed and pointed my finger at the KBR guys until they left. They will be back, but it was something.

Hey man, that's somethin...more than others. Carry on~I don't know what was in Nagin's head, I know he was no Gulianni, I know your Gov folded while the Gov of Miss put the hammer down. But I don't care bout all that really, what blows my mind is that the social structure broke down so fast at places like the Stuperdome and Convention Center.
As a people we are weak, we are lazy. We Spiral down into confusion and anarchy without TV and daily news to tell us how to think and act. The lesson we should learn from New Orleans transends race, class and culture...because in this country none of that is well defined.
We have seen the enemy, and he is us.
God help us~
