I'm trying to see where I even mentioned "black." I've got an allan iverson jersey. The point was clothing that is overpriced, and lacks any actual value as clothing, as opposed to tee shirts, rain gear, etc.
Sorina, I sleep just fine, seeing as how I worked my way up from poor motherfucker factory labor to upper middle class tradesman. Thanks for your concern. By the way, aren't you a lawyer or something? Speak english man. As for when "I be in need" I'll do for myself thanks. See, like the folks in Mississippi who aren't getting anything from anyone, but making do on their own without whining about race issues? Yeah, them.
Anyway, mofish, think what you want.

I did not call you racist Ashly sorry if you took that part of the post as personal, it was meant for someone else. Still I'm telling you, giving 2k cash to those people who have lost many many times that amount is nothing, it's a fuckin joke actually. If tomorrow your house burns to the ground and you lose every single thing you have in this life, including your futon...would 2k even come close to replacing it? Hell would you even be able to find a place to live and clothes and transportation for a week or two? C'mon now~
But yes that's what the 2k is about, it's a little walkin money, you know, here's a couple bux so you can get around, buy diapers and maxipads and maybe have a decent meal at Red Lobster and maybe start to recover from the hell on earth you just went through.
Like I said above, those people aren't all criminals. Very, very few of them are...those people are Americans. Those people had and maintained a life in a major US city and now everything they had, is gone, never to return. Shit 2k...how can you bitch about that? Even if they do drink it...hell they are from New Orleans after all.
btw Tuggan I'm not new here, I don't care if you H8...I treat you all the same, Taxx knows, Vonk knows...you don't have to agree with me, I'm just some more words on the page dude~

Alright Min I will admit I was over the top with that. But still, see my post to Ashly, what is so wrong with this? And yes it was the Allen Iverson thing that got skewed my perception of you..but I'm from Philly (well Jersey actually but I'm a 6ers fan) so I took that shit the wrong way yo.
And no I'm not a lawyer was that other dude from CoA, shit don't remember his char name, was somethin greek mytholical. The dude that was disbarred for doin crank in GA. I was the one that busted him to his cyber bitch and bla bla bla, I'm sure Vonk remembers that shit...it was sad~
Anyways, you sound like a straight up bro. But I'm telling 2k ain't shit for them poor bastards. Why sweat it here?

I can definitely tell you that after losing my house, possibly friends and family, etc.
If I was an addict already...I'd be finding ways to get drugs with that cash/card. I'd have nothing left to care for.
Race issues aside...it will happen with the shit-poor.

See above Harrison, two point easy to understand.
1 Most of these folks aren't 'bad guys'. They're people, good people suddenly shafted into the abyss and..
2 It's only 2k, it's not like the government is buyin em all a new house in the valley...it's walking around money...shit, you gonna tell me you would,nt try to at least buy a 12 pack if you were there? .and would you feel the least bit guilty? Don't lie to me....No one is that pure~

Oh shit no, I'd be piss-ass drunk, every-single-day I could be.
If my life took that sudden of a turn to ultimate shit that is...I'm only human. (who knows, I might get a new mission in life out of the disaster)

Exactly, I rest my case bro...we can't even begin to imagine. Them people trusted our Government, our way of life, our fuckin reason for being...and we fuckin shafted em. Men and women in our Armed Forces die almost everyday half a world away to 'protect our way of life' What a sad commentary to their saccrifice...
And people wanna bitch about a measley 2ooo dollahs~ fuck that.

I have to admit I didn't read the whole article to begin with. It doesn't sound like a bad idea. But something about the idea that "oh you've been through a lot, here's some cash" just irks me.
Thousands of people lose their homes to disasters every year but the government doesn't waltz in and say, here's a debit card for some walking money until the insurance kicks in! The scale of the disaster in question doesn't in my mind change the point.

Mine either, but the very same people would cry out that the government did nothing if this hadn't been done.
The problem is that people expect too much.

From Associated Press:
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - A man who sought safety from Hurricane Katrina in Tennessee was gunned down in the street and died, possibly during a robbery of his Red Cross relief money.
Don Maurice Airline, 24, of Metairie, La., was found on a secluded road with five gunshots to his head. Days before he was killed last week, the Red Cross gave him a debit card worth several hundred dollars.
Detective R. Kenneth Freeman said he knew of no other such killings of Katrina refugees and expressed sadness that the shooting happened in Chattanooga, where the Red Cross, churches and social agencies are helping hundreds who fled Katrina.
Investigators found five handgun shell casings with Airline’s body, less than a mile from a Red Cross shelter where he had stayed. Police were investigating whether robbery was the motive. No one has been charged.
Airline’s mother, Sheila Airline, described the death as “just senseless.”
‘They robbed him’
“For someone to take my child’s life, they robbed him. I know they robbed him because the Red Cross gave him money and the detective can’t find it,” she said Thursday in a telephone interview from Kenner, La.
Her son had left a Chattanooga nightclub with at least two men and a woman hours before his body was spotted early Saturday on a weedy roadside in south Chattanooga, Freeman said.
Sheila Airline, 41, said she went to stay with relatives in Louisiana when she evacuated Aug. 28, while he first went to Houston with some cousins.
“I told him to be careful,” his mother said. “I told him, ’You’re going to Houston and that’s a strange city and you don’t know what to expect. You be careful until you get home again.”
Airline moved on to Chattanooga on a bus provided by Chattanooga Disaster Rescue Efforts Inc. Airline and a cousin arrived in a group of 55 evacuees.
“This is how God had it planned,” Sheila Airline said. “He was evacuated out of the storm and out of the storm he gets killed.”
His mother said she learned of her son’s death when a Chattanooga detective called her cell phone while she was stuck in traffic.
“I said I was his mother and I asked, ’What did he do?’ He said, ’He didn’t do anything. We found him shot in the head.’
“I accepted it, but it wasn’t easy to hear that over the phone,” she said.
Victim warned to be careful
Adrian Davis, a volunteer with Chattanooga Disaster Rescue Efforts, said Airline was warned to be careful.
“He was very, very outgoing,” Davis said. “He was very adamant about having a new start in Chattanooga.”
Airline had initially stayed at the shelter in south Chattanooga but was moved to a motel, Red Cross officials said.
He visited the Red Cross center the day before his body was found, said Jerry Wilson, a service center manager. He requested additional financial help and replacements for Red Cross and Social Security cards.
Airline was a “very frustrated young man,” Wilson said. “I told him we had done all we could do as far as (financial) assistance was concerned.”
Wilson said Airline told him he was supposed to start a job the next day.
“It’s sad,” Wilson said. “I hate that it happened.”

Btw Sorina - These cards are being used so responsibly:
Men are using them at strip clubs on a regular basis
People are buying x-boxes and playstation 2's
The large majority of these cards are being abused. I'm glad they gave them out just because of the few that use them correctly are benefiting. But really, did you expect anything else?
Oh and don't come here and talk shit to us about our comfy middle class shit. A lot of the people on this board grew up dirt fucking poor and have worked their way into being able to be comfortable. I call that earning it, and those who have done so deserve every bit of it without feeling any guilt.

Things I have learned from watching the news on TV during the last two weeks:
1. The hurricane only hit black families' property.
2. New Orleans was devastated and no other city was affected by the hurricane.
3. Mississippi is reported to have a tree blown down.
4. New Orleans has no white people.
5. The hurricane blew a limb off a tree in the yard of an Alabama resident.
6. When you are hungry after a hurricane, steal a big screen TV.
7. The hurricane did 23 billion dollars in improvements to New Orleans: now the city is welfare, looters, and gang free and they are in your city.
8. White folks don't make good news stories.
9. Don't give thanks to the thousands that came to help rescue you, instead bitch because the government hasn't given you a debit card yet
10. Only black family members got separated in the hurricane rescue efforts.
11. Ignore warnings to evacuate and the white folks will come get you and give you money for being stupid.

The federal government plans to begin doling out debit cards worth $2,000 each to adult victims of Hurricane Katrina, The Associated Press has learned.
Homeland Security Department Secretary Michael Chertoff descibed the plan in a conference call with state officials Wednesday morning. The unprecedented cash card program initially will benefit stranded people who have been moved to major rescue centers such as the Houston Astrodome.
"They are going to start issuing debit cards, $2,000 per adult, today at the Astrodome," said Kathy Walt, a spokeswoman for Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
The cards could be used to buy food, transportation, gas and other essentials the displaced people need, according to a state official who was on the call and requested anonymity because the program has not been publicly announced.
Bet 90 percent of all expenditures go towards Fried Chicken and crack cocaine.

aaaaactually if you had ever been to NO for any extended period of time you would find that most of the citizens are government leeches, when not wasting your tax dollars spend their time committing crime and selling/doing drugs. They may be fathers/mother's etc whatever but it really doesn't negate their usually awful sub-human behavior, ohhh like raping each other during and after the storm.
