Sorry Susvain, should've extrapolated a bit.

WOW uses bittorrent to distro their patches if you are using the official Blizzard downloader. The downloads go faster if you have open ports that allow you to 'share' your bandwidth.

Go here for a good description of what you can do

But every EQ and WoW patch download has been very quick, like under 5 minutes, it's just this one time for WoW

Congratulations - you must have a fucking phenomenally fast internet connection. Your 800KB/sec download speeds are equal to what someone should expect from 4 T1 lines.

Hats off to your internet provider, whoever they may be.

I actually get the same speed thru TimeWarner(RoadRunner) cable here in North Louisiana.

800K downloads speeds are a 6M cable connection, hardly a rare thing. And as shocking as it will sound for downloads a 6M cable connection is the same as 4 T1's, just dont have the 6M upload that the 4 T1's would provide and of course you dont pay over $500/mo for cable like you would for 4 T1's.

If anyone else is still having issues downloading the patch you can grab it from my server for the next week or so before I remove it

Yeah...
Verizon... they came out and laid a pipe just for me.

Apparently that's the norm these days.

My neighbor was bragging about his 600/128 satellite connection :teehee:

Supposedly, my new place will have 7/896, which would be fantastic. I'll wait and see if the connection lives up to its billing, though at $35 a month, I'd be quite happy with even 5/512 or so.

things i like about this patch:

  • pets won't attack sheep
  • the item preview function because i am very vain
  • the new need/greed/pass dice window
  • finding dark iron outside of BRD
  • druid cat form strengthened

removal of global cooldown after ranged attack is nice.

Also I like how they added a new level 50 rogue quest, but STILL haven't fixed the what, level 20-ish one?

The thing that really annoys me though (probably just because I'm not used to it yet) is that damn global cooldown after switching weapons during combat.

Why are you so cranky? My neighborhood actually has the slow end of comcast (too many people on the same connection box...tired late... hub...whatever) I downloaded the patch in 1 min 10 seconds....
