Stop comma splicing. You take the comma out before "and" or seperate with a semi-colon if it's two independent clauses.

mindia, the reason why it would take 10+ years for anything to come out of stem cell research is exactly the reason why the government should put money in. There is no denying the potential for great things, but treatments take a very very long time to device, takes a lot of animal testing, then it has to go through very long clinical trials. This is the reason why there is very little private funds going towards it, your quote doesn't counter any argument that has been made so far

I'm more against it from a different standpoint. However, the fact that we have already pumped millions of dollars (government and private sector dollars together) into SSR and got nothing out of it except tumors, and other counter-productive failures, tells me that maybe we should focus on other avenues of combating diseases, viruses, disabilities, and debilitiating illnesses. Those dollars should be focused more on cancer and aids research, imo. I bet there are more people suffering from different types of cancer and aids than people who are paralyzed from spinal cord injuries (which is the main focus of stem cell research).

Focus resources where they do the most good. Invisible hand.
