The guy had been stranded on an island with 2 Family members. He then swam back to civilization. While on the island the 3 had to survive. The three would starve if they didn't find food soon. One family member killed the third family member and with the third made a stew. However that family member called it "albatross soup". The man liked it, assumed the family member committed suicide or some other thing, then when he came back to civilization, he went into the restaurant ordered his new favorite soup, and upon tasting the difference, realized he had eaten his family member on the island.

Ahh ok. You are forgiven, I suppose hehe
The actual brainteaser is from a game (I forget the name of it) from many years ago. Yeah, I have seen a couple different versions of the teaser too, but the one I'm citing is the original, at least as far as I know.

YES! That was it.
How anyone could possibly have gotten the answer in full in one minute is beyond me.

Easier shooting yes and no answers face to face, than on the intraweb.

Very >< it's actually a bad drawback doing it here like this.
Facial expression is essential for inflection when doing these.

he's allergic to albatross and didn't know it. After he ate it, his head swell up, he can't stand the pain and agony so he kills himself. Correct?

Yeah, the meat was tainted, and the rancid meat upset his stomach so bad that he threw himself off the cliff. Or something.

No, and no.
Actually, Xavier's answer was partially correct, and close enough to be a spoiler.
I'll give the full answer later.
