Not true. The 'Hobbits' had 4 books, 4 billion dollar movies, and an assload of related fantasy writeen about them!

Seriously, the Iksar work is the best of EQ. It really shows the amazing potential early EQ had.

My only true EQ regret was not knowing enough as a fresh newb to make an Iksar my first toon, and to never look back. Took me almost two years to figure that out.

They were the coolest looking and had awesome animations. Monks especially. (Rrraaaggghhh Tail Rake!) Iksar FD never ceased to crack me up, even after three years. And that swim animation? Forget about it. In cool city, the Iksar hold all the keys.

They had the richest lore with quests that really helped to convey the story of that lore and to tie you in with it (granted, many of those quests were broken or incomplete for a long time to come, and many still are today, but what they had was quality).

In other words, they had the best of what made EQ great. Their architecture, their dress, and culture had a complete, unified easthetic sense that just clicked. Nothing else like it.

I picked up Lords of Everquest the other day in the almost bargain bin. Not the best rts strat game, but not bad for $19, and its somewhat nice to see the history of eq in a rts storyline. Warcraft3 is soooooo much better, but if you totally love eq, try it.
