A mature adult ties up these loose strands before they get married. If something comes up that leads to such a desperate situation, you should be a fucking man and bring her back from it. People need to take ownership of their choices in life and stop trying to find the easy way out all of the damn time.

This is not always an option. I wish it was.

Then don't get married. Easy solution.

if they eliminated child support altogether, we'd probably start population control pretty quickly right there. I guarantee divorce rates would go down.

Because when two consenting adults have a child, or children, together they are focused on whether this will get them more money in the long run after a divorce?
Sure, maybe there would be less divorce if parents were more concerned about whether they could provide for their kids without an ex-spouse's financial support. However, whether they remain married or not both parents should be responsible(both financially & otherwise) for their child/children.
Yes, I do hear of some people that couldn't care less & just want to see how much they can squeeze out of an ex when the support really isn't needed...but if it's taken away completely it'll hurt those that do need it & have very valid reasons for disolving the marriage.
Who knows...perhaps I am missing your point here? If so, please elaborate.
(Sorry...kind of a thread hijack right? So, keeping with the theme...ya, I'm a recovering fat chick. ;p)

You can definitely tell the immature guys who will never have someone who properly care for them from those who will lead long rewarding relationships
Whether you let your health go to shit is neither here nor there - one thing *is* inevitable. You will get old. She will get old. Looks will fade - it doesn't matter whether she's fat or not, even a skinny 50+ year old is likely going to look 'ok' at best.
What are you going to do if, god help you, the woman you're with falls ill - loses her hair, gets so sick that it's impossible for her to maintain the looks she has up to this point, do you just leave her because she's not pretty enough for you anymore?
I can certainly understand not wanting to go to bed with someone who frankly disgusts you - however, in a *real* relationship, those little imperfections aren't even noticeable after a while because that's not why you're with that person - someone who you might not find attractive walking down the street can be the most beautiful person you know simply because you love them.
If you're a health freak and have the same habits as you expect from your stepford wife, that's one thing - but unless you look positively amazing with no physical flaws, you certainly shouldn't expect some 10 of a wife who never fails physically or emotionally while having to carry her own burdens in addition to your pompous standards.
It's really guys like you that make me so happy that I got so lucky; let's look at the examples of a couple of you with the views you're posting.. Mindia, who is soured on all women currently and just got fucked over by one of these images of 'perfection' - looking for your stereotypical model not working out so well for him, ya? Jay, who I adore as a friend, who definitely can't figure out his priorities currently when it comes to relationships, and I'll leave it there - Kaiine, who can't understand why the women he seems to get with 'only want sex' while he's going for the stereotypical - none of whom are to my personal tastes physically, none of whom are in a current state to be in a lasting relationship, much less assume that they know how things will change once they're in one - playing the field and putting physical boundaries on what you currently want to be with is fine and expected, but honestly - stop watching so many sitcoms, every relationship will be different, and every relationship/marriage will have it's share of compromise - if you put too much emphasis on any one thing, you're pretty much predetermined to fail, especially if it's something as shallow and inevitable as physical appearance years down the road.
I'm not perfect, and I struggle with my weight due to a whole array of things.. but I'm not hideous or disgustingly overweight - I'm average, I'm faithful, I always think of him before myself, and thank god there are good men out there who appreciate someone who loves them unconditionally over some pathetic image of perfection that usually comes along with overly emotional, crazy, shallow women who want nothing more than to take advantage of what they can and leave you wondering why 'all women' are such bitches.

I got to work at 5 =p it's nice, I leave super early and have the whole afternoon to catch matinees, go shopping for dinner, play video games/poker with Jono etc
I didn't used to be a morning person, but it's worth it to get home before 3!

I like how you came back at the guys twofold insulting their personal relationships they've had in the passed, as if you knew their every intention with each women. First of all, Mindia was referring to women who are vastly overweight and have no noticeable concerns about their appeal. I was referring to the intentions, mine of which are never with marriage in mind. I think we all have a point where we can side with looks and personality (including all other shopping list items here), but everyones ratio is different.
Basically, going back to the origin. If you're looking for Love > Marriage > Lifelong Endearment blah blah, then it is a little obvious that as you grow older together, things will change physically and mentally. If you're looking for basic commitments (Most men on this board / twenties), then the appearance (almost instant gratification) matters a little more.
I'm not going to go out on the street and meet every women I find grotesque and out of proportion to find a soulmate. Not now, and not in twenty years.

I think you're taking it to an extreme - my response obviously was not to the initial post so much as it was in response to the derail of the thread where people turned it into 'well if the person I'm with gains weight down the road it's could be the start of grounds for divorce' etc.
What I said was not to insult any of them - I'm very close with Jay, adore Mindia, and have no qualms with Kaiine - it was simply an observation that having that narrowminded mindset is seemingly non-beneficial. You notice that I didn't mention your name, and that's for 2 reasons - 1, based on your posts I know nothing of your relationship status and 2, you specifically mentioned a non committal relationship, aside from saying that you would pull your mate aside and ask if they're eating well etc - Jay specifically mentioned a 'grace period' for pregnancy, Mindia posted a chart, and Kaiine said it was the lead to a grounds for divorce. *That* is what my post was in response to, and in response to your
but my generalized thought on that would be "We aren't working out."
Nobody said that initial attraction isn't important; my response was based on people saying they'd take issue and potentially leave their mates if they gained weight down the road

Well yeah, anything more than those numbers is vastly overweight, duh!
I'm still waiting on a woman to come up with an equally outlandish age / income chart and post it in response to that shit.
