Did you come to a final decision yet Griever?

No not yet. I wanted to head to a couple of dealerships and test drive some of the cars before I actually made a decision, but the weather here has been horrible. I've crossed the Focus off my list and I think I'm leaning towards an Avenger, but a Civic is tempting too. I will definitely let you guys know what I decide on.

Just a suggestion, but under no circumstances buy from a dealer.

Get a wholesale price online from several and shop that way. You'll save cash.

I love my Nissan but it's not an Altima. Unique, quality vehicles for sure. Go test drive one.

i had a '93 altima for several years in high school/college and i really liked it. i know that doesn't say much for the new ones, but it was a sturdy, reliable car. also the lady who teaches cardio classes at my gym has a nice brand-new altima and she's never had problems with it, i asked her once. :D

one of my aunt has been driving altima for 10 years now

she's on the 2nd one now, and she seems to like it

I've ridden in it, and thought it was alright

Very good car. My parents own a Maxima and it's a really sweet ride.

Subaru Impreza's come in at a bit under 20k, get pretty decent gas mileage, and the advantages of all-wheel drive, etc.

Get the STI. It's Bunta's car.

The Altima is a highly-rated, good quality car. The Avenger is not. Avoid the Avenger like the plague. I can give you multiple reviews, plus my own test-drive experiences to back these claims up.

I've decided not to buy a new car. The whole reason I was considering it was because my sister needs a car and I thought my dad would be buying my current car to give to her. We talked and it turns out it's not going to work out that way and I'm better off just paying off the last $1000 on my current car. It's running great and I have no problems with it so it's no big loss anyway.

it's hard to resist getting a new ride when you're close to paying off the old one

especially when someone you know just got a new car, it's contagious imo

but honestly it is really wise of you to just stick with the old one

it's not as fun, but a) it'll be paid off soon and no car payment = win and b) insurance rates are much higher on new cars

it's only transportation, after all

I feel good about my choice. I can just save up money now and get a better later than what I wouldve got now.

Best suggestion in this thread and you made it yourself.

Or you can lease and not bother with investing into something that will decrease in value everyday. Free maintenance, and you get a better rate when the lease is up and pay the amount it would take to own a dodge and instead lease a Lexus, Mercedes or BMW.
