(Zan) your posts are usually alright with me but this isn't even playing the devil's advocate. It's more like, "You like Ron Paul and gave me your reasons so I'm gonna assume you think the opposite of the other candidates." Now that's a silly post.

I never said that because Ron Paul was a good role model Obama wasn't. I never said Obama hasn't raised his family to be independent beings. Again, you made that contrast.

I like them both very much, and would be equally happy with either of them as president. Why? It's due to a very simple reason - I'm on one side of the fence or the other in almost every issue. Basically, I'm split literally in half with my beliefs. This is what I detest about party affiliation - I don't think I should have to side with one or the other, because I don't fully agree with either side. This is the same with just about everything in my life, I'm just not a one or the other person.. generally for me the good lies somewhere in between with a compromise of both sides.

This is a great point, and a problem many people have with our current two party system.

Both sides essentially align themselves with a wide variety of groups and often times those groups are at odds.

It'd be nice if we had viable additional parties and options. More choice is generally a good thing.

I think having additional parties would also help to nullify the far wings of each political party and allow for better legislation and more common ground for the average person who certainly has many issues, regardless of which party they vote for.

Lyion I think you're right and I've not been affiliated with a party, ever. I've voted every election since I was 18 and have voted different ways. My votes were based on the issues and what was important to me at the time. Being a 31 year old who works, without insurance, who rents and wants a family one day has a lot to do with what I care about in a candidate. What I cared about as a 21 year old single mom, living in socialized housing and going to school, was different then. I voted differently. What I care about has changed, I've gotten older. Views are changing. Even the way people define the words "left and right" have changed. I think it's important to properly identify the terms with their definitions. Too many people throw the terms around, usually initiating negative responses, a lot of times, misusing the words. Causing important opinions and points to get lost.

Zan may be what he may be, but both of you are hypocrites for your last few posts.
