I'll be leaving for Basic in January, my little brother is in my unit, and I'll be a Combat Medic (68W "Healthcare Specialist" aka Field/Combat Medic)

There weren't any slots for 25B unless I waited a year to leave to AIT after Basic. Fuck that. (Information Systems Operator/Analyst)

68W was my backup so I'm not disappointed at all. It's half the training as well. I doubt I will, but it gives me the option of being a paramedic in the civilian world if I decide to pursue that after.

If you find you really like being a medic and being in the army, if you stay in for a while, you might be able to get them to pay for college up through med school.

Worth a thought, anyway. Would mean big bucks once you got out, and I believe minimum rank for a full MD is captain.

I ship out to Basic May 22nd. Then I'm off to Fort Worth, TX. Where the female to male ratio is 8:1 for 16weeks.

I guess my self control will be put to the test.

On a brighter note, my little brother is in my unit so I can look after him (aka he's going to be my bitch.)
