your article also specifically mentions that one should not extrapolate the conclusion "more guns ≠ more gun homicides" from the data presented. in fact, the only point the article actually makes is that the BJS tends to lowball defensive gun use figures, which i'm not even really interested in disputing, and which - this is key - would not be affected in any way whatsoever by universal background checks. so i guess cong you on not actually addressing the subject?


btw here's another fact: when viewed independently of other violent/gun crime, mass shootings are not going down - if anything they are going up. can you explain that?

I think in a way thats correct. I think these people are broken and cant connect with anyone around them. They dont realize that the problem is them so they take it out on those around them who they think are happy and have the lives they want.


Basically I think they are sociopaths and that the outcome was going to be bad with these individuals no matter what the circumstance. What I cant figure out is if its happening more often or if its always happened but the 24 hour news cycle makes it worse.

Actually the article plainly states that the BJS survey used to arrive at that figure is genuinely flawed and does not correctly report DGUs. And only gun-controlling liberals take it as fact. The article goes on and on about the disparities between that figure and other studies. It ends with a question. it's not an editorial about lower violence rates, and it's obvious you stopped reading after the first half of the article's title
