What galls me is these are the communities that complain that they dont have jobs because no one will bring new businesses to the area. I like how people use these tragic situations (riots, dead kids) to just belittle each other and call each other stupid. It's like none of you realize that what actually happened doesn't even matter here. Cops rarely indict their own. Of course it was expected. That reaction was exactly what they were going for. tl;dr terrible grammar because I was ranting response from my conversation with a friend earlier:

first, you improperly use grand jury proceedings. You have a judge in a town known for corruption appoint a jury of supposed peers, but somehow, in a town that's 70% black you manage to appoint only one single person who is in Brown's direct demographic. you announce the deployment of military force a week in advance. You know you need military force because obviously there is no indictment. You have a "prosecutor" who is clearly biased and has no desire to get an indictment which is completely counter to what his role is, goes into some long ass diatribe with a shit eating grin on his face the entire time, essentially stifling borderline laughter the entire time he's reading.

You announce a week in advance that you're going to deliver the announcement on a Monday evening, along with the public announcement that military forces have been deployed, giving people plenty of time to sit and stew knowing what's coming because you don't deploy military force unless you expect a violent reaction, so it's clear what the decision is. you go ahead and give people advanced notice to get together and talk about what's coming, get angry, and assemble as is their constitutional right, because that's exactly what you want is an angry mob. then when they're lawfully assembled, you immediately take an aggressive stance and tell them they're unlawfully assembled before they've done anything wrong KNOWING the shit storm you created and what the response will be, because this is exactly the response you're soliciting by design.

Then you start dropping tear gas (including on people who are unconscious and need medical attention) and using premature excessive force, which of course develops the riot in a self fulfilling prophecy.

In a town that has corruption running so deep with abuses so bad that they do things like beating the shit out of an innocent man and then charge him with destruction of property for bleeding on you when you're the one who beat him bloody, and then it's proven that the people saying he bled on them were blatantly committing perjury. This is the town we're talking about. And white people everywhere who've never had to deal with that kind of profiling or abuse are screaming about these supposed disgusting monsters when they don't have a god damn clue what these people go through on a daily basis. It's a circus.
