Even I could tell you 2 different tanning salons, and I've never set foot in one.

It makes a big difference going to a good tanning salon and a bad one.. a huge difference, really

We have a little tanning salon in my gym.. older beds, doesn't cost a whole lot..but the beds get REALLY hot and the rooms aren't big enough to really get comfortable in

The tanning salon I go to now, however, has 12 minute beds with on-board air conditioners and the beds talk to you and have a specific spot for your face because your face tans differently than your whole body

I'll never tan in a crappy place again after this place.. it's so much more comfortable, there's way more options, and it's worth the price difference

Ok getting free time again wooowooo.

In Hastings itself there really isnt much to choose from. Your best bet is going to be Total Images on St. Joseph avenue. Unfortuanatly in Hastings you guys have multiple combo salons. Some that do tanning, nails, hair etc. One that even is a luandry service also.....WTF. Anyway, with those places you will not get very high quality beds. They basically all have the wolf system beds. 24 bulbs.....100 watt per bulb.

Not too far away in Lincoln (not sure how far away that is) you have a MUCH larger variety, with better equipment. Alternative Tan is a decent location Ashley Lynns Tanning in Omaha (again not sure how far that is from you) has a great reputation. Max tan in Lincoln again, Sun Palace in Lincoln, The Tanning Zone in Lincoln are going to be good bets also.

Let me know if this helps.

How can you tell what's a good bed?

Gyps i dont have much in Watertown to go on.

Cabana Tan seems to be ok, but i dont have much info on them. I know just recently they were talking about getting some new 20 minute beds. They had sun dash 232's wich are a great 20 minute bed. Not sure if they still have them or not.

Madison Tanning co. is very good as well. They have 11 WI locations, 1 in Watertown. Their Matrix lay down and stand up are both highly rated. Their base bed (20 minute) are decent. 32 lamp at 100 W. They also have one with a facial tanner also. They would get my recommendation to go to. Their packages run on minutes, wich im not too high on myself, but eh it works.

There is not anything too much better in Oconomowoc really worth noting. I think your best bet is Madison Tanning co.

Mainly based on bulbs and wattage. There are also certain company's that make beds that just dont hold up, or just dont have good bulbs.

Certain bed company's will use bulbs that are low in Phosperous content that will have shorter life spans, and not produce results on par with others.

It mainly boils down to the strength and number of bulbs per bed.

So Wolff are beds to avoid?

What's a good number of bulbs to look for and what strength?

Not necessarily to avoid, your just not going to get the results that you will out of other beds. Wolff beds have been around a long time, and for awhile the industry standard was 20-26 bulbs per bed. Now your 20 minutes beds should have at least 32 bulbs at 100 watts per bulb - 120 watts.

If you salon has not upgraded from wolff beds it usually means they arnt willing to spend money to give you better quality.

Your best bet is going to be Classic Tan in West Des Moines (or Urbandale).

I can get you the addy if you need it.

Your are pretty much in the same boat as Leah with not much to choose from. You have one of those great laundry/tanning locations also!

You also have a wigs/tanning location also. :eyecrazy:

Well while I was waiting on you to respond, I got quite tan at Gold N Tan!

My favorite bed there was the mattress - I like the standup bed too, but I tell you, the face tanners in some of those beds are amazing.

so you don't think the laundromat one is a good one? it's brand-spanking-new and everything... oh well, you're the boss.

i don't think i want to drive all the way to lincoln just to spend five minutes in a tanning bed. :( why oh why must i live in the middle of nowhere?

because with nebraska...you either live in lincoln...omaha...or the rest of nebraska

labbats, you're a pilot. You are closer to the sun than most people. Just stick the plane on autopilot, strip down, and tan away.
