you'd have to get every politician, everyone that wanted to be a politician, as well as all the lawyers, and wannabe lawyers

then maybe, the world would have a chance

One of Tom Clancy's books >< the title escapes me at the moment entertains the idea of virtually all of the politicians in all three branches of US government being killed and government having to be rebuilt from scratch... by normal individuals not entrenched in politics. Sadly when it got to that point in the book, I had to stop reading and reflect for a while on what great opportunities such a scenario might allow for.

we could place more people in power that will be corrupt and find themselves in a position of power they take advantage of?

Well in the story Jack Ryan the standup guy type hero becomes president and makes a plea to the states for people to elect him congressional reps who weren't entrenched in politics.... So yea I guess maybe you'd classify the book more as a fantasy novel :P.

gone are the days when leaders became politicians

now it's the other way around

So what we basically need is a revolution. Can we clone Thomas Jefferson?

Every generation needs a new revolution.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The top U.S. commander in Iraq has submitted a plan to the Pentagon for withdrawing troops in Iraq, according to a senior defense official.

Gen. George Casey submitted the plan to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. It includes numerous options and recommends that brigades -- usually made up of about 2,000 soldiers each -- begin pulling out of Iraq early next year.
