Fuck CGI.

I would much rather see a puppet, models, guy in a suit, claymation etc than a weak ass CGI script.

Dear god man. Yoda isn't in "the first" star wars, which came out in 1977. Jedi was 83, and the CG monkeys from the new vomitous mass of a movie can lick my choad.

I agree here. Fuck CGI its horrible. Yoda in empire (1980) looked pretty damn good, imho much better than CGI version. It has a more realistic feel to have non CGI scenes, and characters.

I hate CGI that is widely used in a movie. You want to use alittle CGI....great perfect i can dig that...but entire sets, backgrounds, and characters that are CGI,Ala the "new" shitastic things he called star wars movies, is horrible. I hated those new movies with a passion because of it.

Well you anti-CGI fanboi's better wiseup cuz CGI is technology and I don't see that back-pedal, ever. You guys must not like any modern sci-fi flics.

You realize that before we're dead they'll have 100% CGI real people movies, I'm not talking cartoon type or even that final fanitisy flick. In fact I recall seeing something from the actors guild about some "stars" wanting to copyright thier likeness so if their image ever gets used in CGI (even once dead i guess), that they or family will get $$ for it.

A non-cgi yoda is like a puppet sock guys. While 4, 5, 6 went CGI overboard, to say the non-combat scene from 4 5 6 with yoda looked like more ASS then mcpuppet yoda, please, you see 20/20 right? I mean his mouth and arms moved like shit, he had a hand up his ass.

The Ewoks and the Mogwai were a little too much alike for me....what happens if you feed an Ewok after midnight, I wonder?

Those animatronic characters look much more real than all that episode 1-2-3 crap.

Just look at Alien and Aliens. Real monster. It's much scarier having a really well design creature than having some computer chasing people around.

Just because it's available doesn't mean it's necessarily a good thing.

It's much like today's games..yeah they look pretty but most of them have absolutely no replayability.

You meant 4,5,6 but I'll let go tho.

You cgi h8rs need to let go, let go of your dark side. come to the good side, know that where you are is at the end of life cycle for old school FX. Come to the light :p

I must say I do like the claymation shit though, clash of the titans some old school hercules or jason and the argonauts, cool yes, realistic no.

Some things just can't be duplicated on "our world", no matter how good the effects.

EDIT

Mart, I agree the games today look great, and replay ability is near zero, this is actually an objective. They don't want you to replay the same game, they want you to BUY the expansion. The devs, programmers thinkg / want folks to play play play, but the folks in charge do NOT, they want you to spend spend spend, so replay!=spend.

MMO's don't fall into that same bucket though.

EDIT x2
And Aliens vs Preditor, that was ASS right, that movie just SUCKED. If you are even a little fan of either "series" while there were problems in the storyline and such, the movie was still very cool (most of it anyway).

Zan is right...the last three movies are 1, 2, and 3. :)

I don't buy many games because there is no replay so they don't get my spend spend spend. If there were more good games out there instead of merely pretty ones, I'd buy more.

doh, yeah 1 2 3, you're right, my bad, sorry.

I've got a friend that I'd call a typical 30 something single white male that all he does is buy tech stuff, games, tvs, phones, etc. I think this is the guy most gamer companies appeal to.

He won't play ANY game if it doesn't look great. I had him in a once a week EQ2 group, he ended up dropping out of the group in two months because he said he couldn't stand how the graphics were so shitty. WE didn't make it past lvl 30 or something, TONS of depth, tons of "story", but not enough flash bang great looks to keep "hooked".

I dont hate CGI. I hate over use of CGI. Until they can act bettter in reaction to CGI, or make CGI alittle more realistic (yes i know its very realistic now..but still has a long way to go before it has amore real feeling.). They over used it in the new star wars movies and they wound up sucking the cock.

I am a fan of CGI, but over use of it right now, ruins more movies than it helps.

Use CGI for scenes where you absolutely cannot film it any other way (ie the massive battles in LotR movies) Otherwise, creative use of animatronics, models, etc is the way to go in my opinion.

I will play any game until it starts blowing goats. Then I just play it some more until I beat it and then I toss it in the "don't give a fuck if it's scratched" pile.

Clakar, the thing is Aliens LOOKS better than AVP. Forget the story and everything else. Can any sane person actually disagree with me on that? CGI is the lazy way out because animatronics requires a harder skill set you make, and people just want the flexibility of, push a button and make me a monster.

PS: Dragonslayer dragon > Dragonheart dragon.

I remember going to the science museum in Seattle years and years ago and seeing the Aliens exhibit where they had all the original animatronics there. It was pretty damn cool.

It's an older movie, kinda dark, but very good.

Yes, it's really quite excellent.

Then again, there's one thing I've never understood. In a society where they do a lottery of virgin girls to sacrifice to the dragon, WTF don't the women go out and get laid at the earliest practicable opportunity? Then you'd be sacrificing off only the prude quotient, and gods know, we can do with less of THEM. ;)
