Until you see your soulmate get demolished by a bus right in front of your eyes....
Never seen that happen but i bet i would mourn over that death....
I have buried a few people in my time. more so then most i would suspect. Yeah the first nights a little funky but we try and throw a blow out for him.
Irish proverb. "A person gets thrown his best party after he is dead."
I plan on being buried in my jeans. 1 pint of capt morgans next to me, and 'O'danny boy' playing when they chuick me in.
After that I want a fucking kegger. Tos can you supply the music and can you also make sure the right beer is served?

not tryin to get too personal or upset you or anything like that kahart, but just as an example for my own curiousty... how would you feel or react if to say your kids were involved in a car accident with mart at the wheel and none survived? would you still have such a lax attitude about death, and laugh it off?

I have a very healthy understanding of death and it's uncomfortable for a lot of people, but I can't do anything about that.
I accepted a long time ago that I will die and everyone else I know.
"do you realize? that you have the most beautiful face?
do you realize? we're floating in space?
do you realize? that happiness makes you cry?
do you realize? that everyone you know, someday, will die?" -The Flaming Lips
I have thought about tuggan posted. The people I've known in my life that have died did so in different ways, and I was closer to some than others. It's just a matter of when and how it happens.
-my cousin was killed in a single-car accident while she was four months pregnant. this was the first time I dealt with tragedy of this kind.
-my granny died of cancer, I was beside her as she breathed her last breath, singing "Beulah Land" and I never shed a tear. It was peaceful
-my ex boyfriend and one of my soulmates died two years ago when he was buried alive. I never cried. I still feel him around.
I know that the way a person goes, and how close they are to you will affect how you bereave, however I've considered that there is nothing that will change it, not even how much it hurts, and to accept death as a part of life and deal with it in a positive way is the only way to do it. (for me.)

He worked for his father's construction company and they had a contract with the city to dig a 12ft deep trench for underground piping. Anything 8ft or deeper they are required by OSHA to use a cage, but they didn't...and the earth collapsed on him.
because he was buried alive, they did not bury him after his death, his wife decided to have him cremated.
interesting fact: one month before he died, I had a dream about him, and his wife, that I was in their home (he had just built) and at the time of his death, I learned that they had recently separated and were not living together.
she is now remarried, we have become friends since his death and she lives in Greenville, NC with her new husband.

the most apt death I remember hearing about could almost have been a Darwin award, but it really happened. This was in Kansas, back in the late 70s. One of the amusement parks had a roller coaster, with the big sign at the top of the lift hill that we've all see on coasters, that says "Do Not Stand Up". Well, this particularly gifted specimen gets free of the safety bar, and actually stands up in the seat as the coaster was going up the hill. Apparently he wasn't watching in front of himself, as when the coaster went over the top, he smacked into the "Do Not Stand Up" sign, got knocked out of the car, and fell to his death.
Yes, that's right, he got killed by a "Do Not Stand Up" sign because he stood up...
Now, I am sure this is heartless of me, but that's ONE individual I think we're better off not having had repopulated his genetic makeup into the species gene pool...

When my dad's mother passed away recently, he called my mother and said, "Sally passed away" and my mom said, "Oh? Are you okay?" and my father said, "yes."
My mother then called me and said "Your grandmother passed away today." I said, "Oh? Is Dad okay?" and she said, "Yes, he's fine."
they buried her in california, I guess...and until a few nights ago when I had a conversation with my mom from Mass...I had forgotten about her death. She said, "You do know your grandmother died, don't you?" and I said, "yes, I forgot though."
some people just do not effect us like others do. My father wasn't raised by his mother and until he became a great person in his family/career, his mother wanted nothing to do with him. Was too late in his eyes by then.

no it just makes me indifferent to death. I can only celebrate that persons life. I cant do anything to change the present so there is no use trying.
I cannot say whether or not the death of my wife and my children will effect me the same way as other family that has died. But I can do my best to try,

I would honestly hope the death of your wife or children would effect you differently than someone who isnt even in the same realm of involvement with you, Kahar
I can understand where you're coming from to an extent, but at some point laughing death off is either lack of caring or pure denial.

He doesn't mean he laughs off death. He doesn't mean he doesn't feel pain or loss. He just prefers to dwell on how the deceased lived their lives rather than dwell on their death and how much he misses them.
Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.
I'm certainly not indifferent to death. I have become somewhat desensitized over the years but I still feel sad when I think of all my dead friends and loved ones. One of my managers a few years back was crushed by the recent death of one of her high school classmates. It was the first one of her peers that had died and she was close to 40 at the time. I buried my 10th close friend 2 summers ago at the age of 34. I can almost count on losing a close friend every 2 years or so...

Wow, that must be devastating. Still, some people make lifestyle choices that are much more likely to cause an early meeting with the Grim Reaper.
I look back at the idiotic things I did in my 20s and feel pretty lucky to be here, not including the brushes with death due to antiquated military aircraft...
What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.
