It broke my computer.
I was fine playing, then shit started disappearing, like the boardwalks and rooftops. So I restarted my computer. Now it wont run. It's sitting at a black screen. /sigh

Ok, I found some "tweak" site and just like EQ, a few switches in the ini file make a world of difference.

I fixed my problem by deleting cookies, or whatever I did.

Silly little game.

I had a blast over the weekend working on "elite" quests and other group oriented goals. Great game. Still buggy as fuck though. I get stuck in the geometry at least twice per gaming session.

At least you can log on.

Blizzard has shitloads of people who can't even log onto their characters and they haven't done squat about it. They are ignoring the threads for a week+ as well.

I really want to see some screen shots of real peoples comps and not the super computers the company has =p

Judging from your guys experience with your computers, do you think if I upgraded my video card I could handle it ?

P4 2.8 ( not HT ! )

1gig Ram

Currently Geforce Ultra Ti 4800 ( out performed my 5200 )

You can pick up Geforce 6800's for like 140 bucks. AGP, not PCI.

My friend had the same exact set up but a AMD 2200 instead, and when he put in the 6800 he manhandled FEAR with out any slow down.

Worth it, yeay, nay ?

It's playable on my laptop but I probably get like 15FPS on balanced. I usually run at High Performance settings.

Specs:

1.83 Core 2 Duo
2GB ram
128MB Geforce 7400 GO

Game is slower than the fucking short bus for me, but Gid just told me the video card is old and way outdated, so thats probably my issue.

I'd take screenshots but nothing is on so it doesnt look as good.

right now I get around 30-50 fps on my set up set to high performance.

3.0 HT intel
evga 7600gt
1gb ram

When I get into a town in the newbie area with 10-30 people around, my FPS drops to 2-5 for about 10 seconds while the area loads up some, then goes up to steady 15fps.

My friend is letting me use his 7900gt but I don't think anything will help as much as another gig of ram would right now.

If you're on WinXP right click My computer

Properties > Hardware tab > Device manager

Find the Display Adapters subsection in that list.

Your video card is that.

You can also go to Start -> Run and type in DXDIAG which gives you some fun info about your PC.

I finally figured out how to do a FPS check. I average about 10FPS.

I can't run this game for crap.
I have :
2.8 GHz Dual Core Intel
1 gig ram
x900 512 mb

I get maybe 10fps on high performance and 25 or so on highest performance ( Which looks like I am playing it on an Atari 2600).
I plan on getting another gig of ram, but I have a question about video cards. I am looking at a 7800 512 mb and a 7900 256 mb. Is the increased pipeline and clock on the 7900 really that much better than the extra 256mb ram on the 7800?

If you haven't BigR, make sure you do those tweaks Tossica posted. After doing those, I was able to turn my onboard audio back on without taking a FPS hit. (before I was losing 10-15fps from having audio on).

pixel pipelines are a huge factor

ram is fine, but you really won't use much over 256

the 7900 generally beats the bejesus out of a 7800
