Charity is one thing, providing people with necessities who aren't willing to obtain it themselves is not charity. The government should not have involvement in housing people. There is low income housing, I've qualified and rented before, eight years ago because I was single and based on my salary, I paid $90/month to live in an apartment. It was tightly run by a woman I knew from high school, but she couldn't keep everyone out, I know some shady things when on in that area.

By creating low income housing for people we create ghettos. If it's going to be done, it has to be done properly and of course nothing is perfect, but the example of my own experience is really good...I know there weren't gun shots or drive bys, but any drugs going on would be the same you can find in every other area, right in your building or on your street. You don't know..but she wouldn't let anyone in if they didn't have a full time or job and she was strict.

The housing in my hometown is slumville. there is a police annex nearby..but what I'm saying is that these areas might create themselves eventually, but it wouldn't be the on the shoulders of taxpayers.

"Let's all drop out of college and live in these houses funded by the government, eat the food funded by the government, and if we get sick, we can use the health care provided by the government."

Come to think of it, isn't that the current welfare state right now? You want to expand this?

Bingo.

Ron Paul would privatize the air we breathe if he could. He is a wolf in sheeps clothing and it scares me that so many intelligent people are falling for his bullshit.

Yes, he's "something different". Yes, he would "shake up Washington". Yes, a lot of what he says makes sense initially until you realize that by breaking the government down step by step, you are just turning over power from "elected" officials to corporate board rooms which is the very LAST thing we need at this point. Corporate greed has already done enough to destroy our country and our government is the ONLY thing that is large enough and powerful enough to stand UP to the worlds corporations and force them to do things that might not be profitable but are the in the best interests of EVERYONE, not just the stockholders. Ron Paul proposes that many of the functions of government could be handled more efficiently and profitably than by the bloated systems we have in place right now. I agree with this but where does it end? We need change, this everyone agrees with. Having a privatized health care system has done nothing but allow insurance companies and lawyers laugh all the way to the bank while millions go without even basic preventative care. Do you think privatizing the military would result in a safer country? How about the police and fire force? What's the motivation for a corporation to do "what's right" in a situation where a financial loss is inevitable without something there to force their hand?

I like a lot of what Ron Paul says but there are other candidates that say similar things that won't sell your soul to the highest bidder.

Unfort toss there isnt a better candidate available. Personally I have had enough of the lying conservative asshole and every one of his fucking cronies that are in office now. its going to take 100+ year to fix the damage they have done with their bullshit war etc. The Dems franky have nothing to offer. I just don't see a better alternative.
