I've admitted I'm wrong and conceded defeat. I'm not a computer nerd. Never have been and never will be. I play games and enjoy them and then go back to focusing on the real world. And you're still trying to act like an elitist and make fun of me. Amazing. People like you are incredible to me.

And ya, I win at life everyday, from my great job and my beautiful girlfriend to my academic studies. You're joining the army. 'nuff said. I'm glad being good at FPS fake-life on the internetz makes you happy. Because it just makes me laugh that you waste time on stuff like this. Or even care at all.

Look I can be elitist too :lope:

Yeah, insulting someone for joining the service. That's a real painful button

So is insulting someone for not being good at a computer game. See? I was just making an equally ridiculous argument. I'd never look down on someone for serving their country.... come on... I even used sarcasm at the end and put the : lope : in

This all stemmed from the ridiculous attempt to equate two different peripherals. There's just no technical comparison. That's my only point.

Like Arlos said, which you find more fun, or if both are to you, is subjective and not a part of my argument.

I do not have fun playing an FPS with a controller.

To me it's like going to a shooting range with a slingshot. You can hit the targets if you practice enough but you're still using a slingshot whereas everyone around you are nailing targets with handguns.

If everyone was using slingshots, it would be just as fun IMO. You are just an overly competitive douchebag.

this is a dumber argument than blu-ray vs hd-dvd

Then it wouldn't be a shooting range, it would be a playground.

Apples and Oranges. Artificial difficulty as the result of a poor peripheral isn't a good game, it's poor engineering.

To me saying you like the difficulty because of said poor precision is like saying you enjoy having a front end alignment skewed in your car because it makes racing more interesting. :ugh:

no, he's saying the game is balanced around the hardware design

the main issue with FPS games online, is the dude with the best hardware has a huge advantage

Thank you Tikker.

That's exactly what I've been trying to get across through like 20 of these fucking arguments. The playing field is LEVEL on a console. The game is balanced around the control scheme. Everyone has the same hardware and noone can cheat. It's ALL skill at that point.

The plateau tops off when you get to the 40-50fps range and never dip below 40 in the heaviest of use.

I understand your point but it doesn't have the impact it used to when mechanics actually were centered around FPS and timing.

Jetpack fuel usage in Natural Selection, for example, used to be dependent upon your FPS, so with my supercomputer at the time rocking 100FPS I had nearly infinite fuel over that of my counterparts having only 40-50FPS.

This of course was fixed over the years, but games for the most part overall have learned their lesson there.

As far as peripherals go?

I paid top dollar for my mouse and it's still kicking ass years later. (Razer Copperhead)
I paid $9 for my keyboard and it's hands down the best keyboard I've ever used. (I've shelled out $75+ for keyboards in the past and was left feeling underwhelmed. Though the programmable macro storage was almost worth it alone...)
I spent $50 on my headphone/mic combo, with active noise cancellation.
Major step up if you're going into competitive play is a headset first, honestly. Hearing where people are that you can't see is key.

To address the ninja post:
I already said my response to that. It's level in the sense that everyone is playing with a hand behind their back. The game is "designed" around the idea of everyone being handicapped right off the bat by the shitty peripheral. That's just a terrible way to look at game design, IMO. And you don't think people are cheating on the 360 either?

You are sadly mistaken, hard.

IT'S NOT A FUCKING HANDICAP IF EVERYONE HAS THE SAME SETUP.

The only handicap is how bad you suck at using the tools given to you.

As I said, if you like playing with a shitty fucking controller, more power to you. It doesn't make what I said any less true.

It's sub-standard, sub-par, below average, piss poor, inaccurate...shall I continue or can you grasp this simple concept yet?

Yeah, I get it. You can't handle playing a game balanced around a certain piece of hardware so there's no advantage for you.

My advantage would be playing a better designed game. :dunno:

The console is better suited for you and players like you. (Read: the bad players)

So Fallout 3 is huge. I just got a minigun from sniping (with just a hunting rifle) super mutants to the east of Megatown.

I'd have to say I'd prefer this game on a console b/c at least then the controls would be properly configurable... right now I can entire the Pipboy w/ r-ctrl, but I have to leave w/ the default Tab key. Bunch of other weird stuff that annoys me too =\

Yeah, Bethesda F'd up the port to PC for Oblivion as well. Modding abilities to the game made up for the lacking interface though.

The interface could be fixed, and the game made more properly scaling on difficulty and assloads of bugfixes.

I've been playing the crap out of this since tuesday. My only regret so far is taking the Bloody Mess perk. It gets kind of tiresome seeing every single enemy explode when you kill them.
