My opinion:

It took the worst natural disaster in our nations history to bring out all of these strong opinions. That sickens me. Months ago, people may have thought such racist things as, "James Byrd likely deserved it" or "I'm actually starting to wonder if they were meant to be a slave race," but few would have said it. Now - with thousands dead and hundreds of thousands more left homeless, you people are feeling liberal with your racism and your hate-mongering. Awesome. You were a few pussy loners with your opinions a year ago, and now you are a collective gang of pussies while people are dying. Mob mentality. Congrats.

That's how I would HOPE the members of NT would feel... but I might be wrong.

For the most part, NT's administration is a tyranny. When I want to add features or upgrade the backend, I simply do it. However, in regard to moderation, I usually leave it up to the members.

Rule # 1 states, "Do not use ethnic or racial slurs."

That's obviously been lightly enforced over the past few months. However, I'm at the point where I'm OFFENDED by a lot of the discussions lately. I would be embarrassed to invite a friend to NT; they might think me an admin of a Klan forum. Still, the moderation is mostly based on popular opinion.

So, I leave it to you. Please don't use this thread to discuss the merits OF my argument - I only want to know what you all think about the direction of the board. Hence, "board feedback." Should we, as moderators, crack down on all this racism? Should we allow it to continue? Give the administration a nice argument either way.

I'll leave it to popular vote.

I voted 2 because I don't think people should be censored necessarily, but things have gotten really out of hand.

How about 1 temporarily. Kinda like martial law til the foul stench of all this internet e-hatred starts to dissipate.

I went 2 just because of the fact that it always has been lightly enforced. Though I'm wondering if that would even be a good idea...let someone have 200 posts before they realize what people here can really be like...

I kind of like Mofish's idea, just to get it under control for a bit, because really, some of the opinions, while they are opinions, could have been said a lot better lately especially since some NTers were apart of the disaster, either being there themselves or having family/friends there.

Completely objective and factual information that people CONSIDER racist is completely under this radar, regardless of how you feel about it. Period.

I.E. Percentage of populations who have committed violent crime statistics. That is OBVIOUSLY racist

Ditto. It hasn't been that bad in the past, and it was tolerated to some degree before, so I see no reason why it should suddenly be subject to nazi law.

I say what I want because this is the internet and not a godamn thing I ever post here will affect anyone. Half of what I say is to incite an E-Riot and drive conversation.

I voted option 3... The internet needs it's anti-christs and pornographer's to sustain life. It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it.

In all reality I'm not some card carrying member of the klan, nor do commit any hostility on any man/woman/child based upon race. But if you ask me if I'm sick to death of this one-sided "fuck whitey" reverse racism shit that is running rampant in this country I say hell the fuck yes.

i'm with you vonkaar, i don't really appreciate all the slurs that get tossed around so freely.

people are entitled to their opinions, yes, but when stated in such negative, hateful, and hurtful ways, it's hard not to be at least a little offended...

people need to have a little decency towards each other, and if it takes some sort of executive action to enforce it, more power to you.
