What's this? The Knicks trade away a young starter for an underachieving, overweight big man with health problems? I'm shocked. Shocked, I say!
I loved this quote: "Sweetney had been slated to be New York's starting power forward, and Thomas was expected to start at small forward. The Knicks now have an added measure of depth along their front line". So, they traded two projected starters for one projected starter and got deeper?
I think the Bulls came out ahead on this one, provided they received better draft picks than they surrendered. Provided there's no round disparity, how can you swap draft picks with the Knicks and not come out ahead?

Another bonehead move from Thomas.

There is some potential for redemption here though.
If Curry is healthy and
if he's motivated both on the court and in a conditioning program, he could produce for them. With Brown coaching him he'll either be motivated or spend a ton of time sulking on the bench. We'll see which it is...

I have no faith in Curry. People get a little too worked up with bigs.

True. On the other hand, maybe Isaiah got to review the tapes of the several hundred other games of James' career and figured he didn't have much to lose.

HAHAHA
So now that he wasted his entire MLE on James, he's just gonna stick him on the bench behind another fat unhealthy center?
Shrug, things don't look great in Toronto but it could be worse~

I would suck for Thomas if Curry did a Hank Gather on the court this season.

John Hollinger chimed in on the trade:
espn.com wrote:But it seems that Curry's perceived potential has blinded the Knicks to all the potential pitfalls.
"Every 15 to 20 years a guy comes along with this size and this type of agility and skill," Thomas gushed.
He is technically correct, I suppose: He didn't say "this type of skill or better," and, hey, it's been exactly 20 years since the Clippers took Benoit Benjamin with the third overall pick.

He passed the Knicks' physical so I guess he is healthy now.
