IPOD NANO: AAC Format - good/bad?

Dana got me an IPod Nano for our 1 yr wedding anniversary. YAY! I'm messing with it right now. My question is should I convert all my music library to the newer AAC format? I have a huge mix of formats in my library MP3, WAV, etc. Was also using the Foobar 2000 program so had everything in musepack/MPC that was in those folders. With this Ipod Nano I can pretty much store my entire library on it or most of it. Just wondering if it makes sense to keep everything in one format.

I say leave it as an mp3 because AAC is limited to the iTunes build. In whatever scenario if you end up exporting music to a different location from your ipod you'd have to re convert it to mp3 in order to use the file unless you use iTunes.

Hiya Ero.... Thanks =)
But ipod wont play the mpc's so convert those to mp3 also? Does it make sense to keep everything as one type? Also - does ipod convert from aac to mp3.. have not looked at that yet.. noob to the ipod world.

I have to say I am loving this toy. Getting use to the touch panel is a little weird. It is super sensitive. You can't beat the size though. Pretty cool. I filled up the entire thing with my whole music library. Going to pick up the car adapter and arm band for it tomorrow.

I was going to get the Nano. I thought it looked so cute, and there was more memory for the same price as a Mini. My only drawback, and it's a biiiig one, is that the back is metal and fingerprints show up easily, and that drove me insane. So I got a pink Mini :)

lol.. well most of the time mine will be sitting in the armband or the car adapter so the prints won't be too bad.. =) Pink mini is cool too. Since Apple phased out the mini in favor of the Nano I bet the prices will go down on the mini as well. Hopefuly you got a good deal. I only got the 2GB nano. With the amt of songs I have now I should have got the 4GB. I'm on an emule download kick today. Hell .. if I keep this up I'm going to need the regular 60GB one. I like the nano though because I don't like anything bulky on me when I workout... the smaller the better. It really is perfect for that and I don't mind rotating the 400 - 500 songs on it.

Has anyone put up a music FTP server for NT? We need one! I'd upload to it. :boots:

I sit in the car saying "I wish I had ___ on here, I want to listen to it, I need to download it when I get home"
Then I forget who or what it was. I need new songs but I cant just think up some.

I mainly use most of the mp3 players for my books on tape. Since I have very little reading time in my life I buy the books I want on Audio and listen to them.
