My roomate signed up for some Marlboro promotion at a bar years ago... He's never smoked and I quit awhile ago.

Marlboro has been sending him some great shit for a long time and the last gift was pretty kickass....

We got to go to the California speedway and have a bunch of pros take us out in the racecars on Marlboro's dime.

We got to ride in a drift course (you know that ricer shit where they slide the car all over the place), then onto a street racing track in a 450HP Panoz. The course has lots of tight turns and the elevation changed... This was pretty cool.

The kicker was riding in the NASCAR in the oval track.. You know the ones that are at tilted too? Anyways I don't know shit about car racing; I grew up in Seattle... We got up over 180 on the straight aways and were maybe 2-3 feet from the wall... In the turns I couldn't even move because I was being smashed against the roll cage.

After all that they had this huge meal for us and we got to meet Rick Mears who was a 4 time Indy champ.

I almost felt bad for not smoking anymore, but damn it was a fun day. Out of my group of 20, 2 of us are going to win a trip to the Marlboro racing school where we actually drive the F-1 and Nascars for 4 days straight. I'm crossing my fingers on that one.

Anyone ever been to a racecar school? If I don't win I am seriously thinking about doing it.

figures, all ive gotten from marlboro was a plastic lighter case, bbq cookbook, and a bad cough every morning.

I was looking at the California Speedway website and I guess they have all kinds of racing schools all the time... Some of them are somewhat affordable... I can't wait to save up some cash and try this shit out. Car racing would be the shiznit.

It's amazing how much damn money the tobacco industry has... Marlboro basically rented the Cali Speedway for a week and had about 30 cars involved in this little event. Each day they processed about 250 people through their little promotion. They also went through about 80 sets of tires with an average cost of 2000 grand a set.

This whole thing probably ran them about 1.5-2million bucks for a week. Considering they have that much money to burn I'm thinking a bout getting into the cigarette industry. I could be rich!

I know its "bad and illegal" etc, etc. But I like watching some of my friend's street race up at college, its a lot more interesting than NASCAR lol

I wonder who would win if Mike Ditka drove the Chicago Bears team bus in one of those races...

I watch the race every sunday, i love it! I know a lot of people trash drivers, but could you sit in a car for a few hundred miles going 200+ on a blistering hot track? I actually know for a fact I couldnt do it, I did a thing in Charlotte one time and we got to ride in the cars and shit, was insane, come next summer though I will be driving one, my birthday present is gonna be to take a class thing and stuff for a few days and then you get to take a real car out on the track and follow a pro, and he takes you as fast as he feels you ready to go. I cant wait!

the thought of actually driving one of those cars gives me a fucking stiffy... I intend to get another crotch rocket this spring... They have racing classes for those too. I think I'm going to take that as well just to improve my skills at riding/dodging dumbasses in SUV's talking on cellphones.
