Does the game get boring?

I have noticed everywhere I go in the game that large groups of people are always doing nothing but sitting around and dueling. (Note: I play on PvE server for reasons I have mentioned in the past.) Is there really no end game things to keep them busy or are these the rejects that would get picked last behind the quadriplegic that types with a pencil in his mouth?
Just curious as I have really started to get bored with the game and haven't really played in over a week. It just either seems to be missing something EQ had or I'm getting too old for it anymore and EQ burned me out on the stuff.
Dueling just seems even more boring. If I wanted to fight folks, I'd turn on the Playstation 2 and play Mortal Kombat.
Not looking for knee-jerk flames or arguments here, just basicly insight about your feelings about this game over the long haul.

Game sucked for me after about 6 months.
Only so much shit you can do before you realize it is all a treadmill to keep you in place while you pay them money accomplishing nothing really.

yeah the only thing that kept me playing WoW was the ability to pwn nubs all day but that kinda wears thin after awhile when you realize you can pwn nubs in other things without the lame ass aspects of all MMO's

I go through phases where I'll have a goal in game (like, my epic mount(s), or a certain level of faction, or leveling an alt) and that will keep it interesting for me. But after I attain that goal, or decide I don't care enough (fuck faction grinding), then the game loses it's appeal for me all over again.
I think it would be more fun if I did more instances, but I don't like PU groups, and Lang and his friends are very much into PVP whenever they log on.

The game can hold my interest for about 2 weeks, then I lose interest for a few months and then come back to start the cycle over again.

I started a char on whisperwind or whatever that server is called. I can't believe that I waited so long to try a horde race. I am having a ball with my undead warlock so far. That should keep me occupied/interested for another month.

The warlock epic mount quest was the most fun, out of all the quests I've done. Some of the pet quests are neat as well.

Most of the people who get bored of the game are the people who haven't seen half the game.

clear BWL= 1 day, my guild is at vael but i figure no more than 4 hours once its in farm status, can see the writing on the wall.
clear all of MC= 4.5 hours even with people screwing around turning the MT into wisps and shit
clear all of ZG= not even 4 hours with a decent group and shitty loot once you have your class trinket and MC/ony gear
Kill onyxia= 15 minute raid, takes as long to DKP the loot as the actual fight
There are world dragons/kazzak, but until you've played on Kil'jaeden and actually seen 200 level 60's of each faction on each side in azshara crash the server, i'd suggest you don't know what the fuck an azuregos raid really is about, lag and boredom after a 5+ hour PvP zerg fest. Same goes for BG's AB is kinda fun but I can only do it so many times and faction is slower than fuck.
I find myself playing alts or other games most of the time when not raiding, which is about 10-20 hours a week or so. Is the game hopelessly boring? no, but it's not EQ for the raid game and personally I doubt that it ever will be.

I hear you Metranon
It's hard to explain, but it just doesn't seem to have the depth of gameplay that EQ did

Yah me too. MMOGS are just such a waste of time. I'm back to my old way of gaming... get a new game, play for a few weeks, shelve, rinse repeat.
