Bill Parcells is not HoF material

New thread same shit.
When I think of the other names I know I am referring to greatness. When I hear Parcells name, I do not think of greatness. Just another average coach that managed to score a few Super Bowls. Which, incidentally is why I didn't mention Marv Levy's name either. Mediocre coach, good players, a shitload of disappointments.

Ah, nothing like subjective criteria to found an argument. Seriously, Parcells has made every team he's coached better, and they've done worse when he's left. I don't think it would be a huge injustice were to be ignored by the Hall of Fame committee, but saying he sucks is taking it way too far.

Ever think he saw that he couldn't keep it going and bailed? I have seen numerous occasions when a team that he supposedly had made "better" all of a sudden got worse.
If that is the only thing he has going for him he is screwed.
Honestly, like I said earlier, I don't think he sucks as a coach. He obviously has something going for him to have done what he has done. I just like talking shit on him since he doesn't read this board.

I'd be more inclined to take that theory seriously if it had only happened once. It seems to be a pretty consistant trend with him though: he takes the team someone else built, does better than they did with it, builds it up to a playoff calibre team, leaves, and his replacement does worse than Parcells. Notice the resurgent seasons players like Glenn and Bledsoe are having? I don't know if it's specifically limited to a certain type of player or not, but Parcells definitely seems to get more out of his guys than other coaches are able to.

Marv Levy was also a very good coach, in multiple leagues
don't get me wrong, no matter how good the coach is, you obviously have to have talent on the team to win, but it's fair to say that a lot of very talented teams did NOT win superbowls because the other team was better coached

Despite your opinion of him, Marv Levy is already in the Hall of Fame. As will Parcells be when it's all said and done.
I think the primary problem with your opinions, is many of the coaches you would have parcells or levy measure up to, coached entirely, or had most of their success in the pre-free agency, pre-salary cap era. Free agency started in '92, salary cap in '94.
Both of these coaches had success in both formats of the NFL, and probably deserve bonus credit for their ability to adapt.
Not to mention Parcells is an astounding personnel guy. His drafting strategies are masterful.
Anyway! You're wrong! Admit it!

As for Levy, I know he is already in, like I said, I didn't mention him with the other HoF'ers because I don't feel he belongs either.
You might actually be on to something with your theory there. Unfortunately, there can be no wrong or right since this based mostly on my opinion. It's like me saying you're wrong for favoring a particular food over another.
He is a mediocre coach. He got lucky with a few teams. (haha had to throw that word in there!)
Not HoF material. Sorry.

Just remember, it's the "pro football" hall of fame
not the NFL hall of fame
Levy's contributions in the CFL (he also won 2 grey cups) count towards his success as a coach
