what are some good older games, that that I could get for free, or close to it?
I've got an older p3 850 laptop(which was free) and it has some sort of ATI vid card in it
Now i've decided that I'd like some games to play on it, other than starcraft (which is fun, but I suck so badly at it, I get frustrated, jeje)
go!

Gothic is good and doesn't require much to run.
EB has a package with icewind dale 1 & 2, PS:Torment, and something else for 20 bucks. That's a lotta gaming RPG goodness there.
If you want something downloadable, check out Mount & Blade.

I tried and tried and tried and it kept locking up on me. Could you give me some detailed infoz on how to do this, I would forever be in your loving embrace.

For the win~
As for UT 1, I seriously doubt it unless you are talking about Unreal. The first Unreal just might. The original Half Life has less demands on your sytstem though.

Actually, it suprises me how many folks have never played this game. Playing it now would probably make you cringe. It's just at it's time it was so groundbreaking. But now, the environment, storylines, etc.. have been played out in 347234897 other games.
