Serious Question

I never ever thought I would go here for academic support, but I am honestly at a loss right now so any input will help me. In order to get my bachelor's I need to write a 35-40 page scholarly paper on a topic within my field of study. Honestly, I can't think of shit for topics.
My field is web management/design and e-commerce. I need to write a preliminary prospectus, but it rather helps to have a topic. The only topic I have in mind was one suggested by a professor who is not even in my field: The design sacrifices made in order to be WC3 compliant, which I hate the fucking topic because I think its pretty stupid, I don't want to write a paper arguing against WC3 compliance.... sigh.
Anyway, does anyone have any input or suggestions of topics? I envy you who did not go to college now

Any actual suggestions would be very appreciated, no smart ass shit please, I'm on a deadline here. ><

Not that any of these are splendid but:
1) MP3 sales and formatting (the suckness of only being able to play it on certain sofware, you could fill plenty of pages discussing the history of file-sharing and the survival of KaZaa and Limewire
2) What do they call it Cyber Monday? The biggest E-Shopping day of the year, the Monday after thanskgiving, you could track the development over the past few years and what it will mean for storefronts and how companies are changing and/or reallocating marketing budgets to focus on the net more, etc.
3) Blogging, the history and development, different types of communities and the manner in which they fund the site, how they choose ads, etc.
hope these can create some kind of spark

The Life and Times of Ralf Macchio: Internet Superstud
I've got like 6000 posts of pure intarweb gold, which is more than enough material to write a measly 40 pages.

I think Tuggan is right. Porn is the way to go. Without porn, would the internet be what is today? Isnt porn one of the few profitable industries on the internet, or was at one time. Have other businesses copied the adult industry business model? Will the .xxx help or hurt the internet?
You could probably gain a few extra points with a nice money shot somewhere in your paper

How about taxation and e-commerce? Pick a side (it should or shouldn't be taxed). There should be plenty to write about on it and it's timely.
Best of luck,

Ok fine...
Ideas not quite as good as my first suggestion are as follows:
1. The impact of the internet on big and small business...Such as the little guys like me for example being able to actually compete in niche markets with the Walmarts'es and Circuit Shitties of the world.
2. The rise and fall of the dot com boom and the future of the net.
3. 18 Year old camwhores... Girls Just wanna have fun or interpr0n prostitutes with hearts of black ice and noses full of snow?
I would go with 3.

You would.
Maybe something to do with the importance of good web design in e-commerce?
Find examples of sites that offer good product, but their presentation is so poor it could overall hurt their business.
You could discuss things like:
Marketing on the web
Presentation elements and why they matter, for example, you could prolly fill a few pages discussing the importance of placing certain material "above the fold" (close enough to the top of the page that most people won't have to scroll to see it)
You could discuss when e-commerce is too much, an example might be a local farmer getting "plugged" in on e-commerce to do his crop sales. He may be successful with this venture, but is something like that really necessary or could his marketing time and resources be better spent elsewhere. Discuss the pro's and cons of even using e-commerce and web design in general.
Anyway, just some ideas for ya.

I like your ideas Donnel. Since I already started my prospectus because it is due this afternoon I think my project shall be on porn!
Just think, a 40 page paper on porn and yet you can't even wack off to it.... this will be an anomaly!

If anyone has any additional suggestions, keep throwing them out. I have a year to complete this project, even though my topic is given a deadline for submission. So if I see anything phenominal here I will tell them "tough shit, I changed my topic".

If your goal is to be taken seriously, don't do it on porn.
If you don't really care, have fun.

I don't need to be taken seriously, I just need credit for the paper.

Eh E-commerce. Hmm you play WoW. Do a paper about e-e-commerce and economics in the online world. Total nerd overdose but it would be easy to write.

Its so true Taxx, I have always contemplated doing a paper on it. Not sure if I can get 40 solid pages on it, I might look into it out of fun.
