So my laptop isn't even a year old, had a 3+ gig processor, 1/2 gig of ddr ram, and when I play Diablo 2 of all games... it will just shut down after like 30-45 minutes of play... any answers, it is really annoying

i had wondered about that because it does seem to get quite hot before it shuts down, is that something that they would deal with at Best Buy if I brought it in

that should be covered under warranty
what type of laptop is it? i know ibm lets you just ship it to them as long as it's under warranty and they pay for the shipping.

Dell onsite service plan is the shit. I've had mine serviced once since I got it. They came out with a new motherboard the next day, no questions asked.

it is a Toshiba... I have never had any trouble with Best Buy though, they even replaced a previous laptop 6 months after I got it... got a .2 mghz and 10 gig hd upgrade with the new model

Sounds like a fan problem, perhaps one or more have burnt out.
Do yourself a favor and get it checked out before you fry your computer. I went into the store I used to work in a few days ago, and my boss was telling me how they have to replace their mainframe computer because the fans died. They are by far not computer experts, so they did not notice and just kept using the computer. Eventually, they fried it. I told them next time they notice suspicious behavior to not ignore it and to just call me. Instead of buying a whole new computer I could have changed their fans for less than 20 dollars before they fried the system..... sigh.

The fans comment is dead on. The cpu fan is probably toast.
can you boot into the BIOS and leave it on and monitor the CPU's core temp? Some BIOS will let you see that.
If it goes through the roof you know what the problem is.

BTW guys, thanks for the information, I had to wait a week or so to take it in, but the problem was definitely the fan, as it got worse the couple days before I took it in (got hot just running normal, not only playing Diablo 2) so I made sure to leave it off when not using it, etc..... I should be getting it back from Toshiba any day now.
