He spends like LBJ, he speaks like LBJ...I'm stunned and amazed. Discuss.

Peace on earth, goodwill to all men...my ass.

"and um... um...or umm.." sersiously I think he failed speech. Love, hate or tolerate him, the man doesn't do speeches well.

He doesn't even read a teleprompter well...but more to the point I felt his message was lame, removed from the real feelings of the American people. Ron Reagan woulda nailed us, W Bush is simply unbelievable. His address changed nothing as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't realize addresses were meant to change anything.

Personally, I don't think he's a good president. He's done (or hasn't done) many things I disagree with. But I don't think he's a lier, or the scam artist that the left would have you believe he is.

You assume too much and it's spelled 'liar'. At any rate I'd like to know what people think now.

I dunno was this address meant to change anything? I think yes, and I think it failed miserably. But that doesn't reveal my feelings. Don't assume too much.

I don't believe the man speaks the truth.

Why is there any assumption based on his personal opinion?

You don't believe he speaks the truth, Minrott does. That is subjective and not assumptive. I'd say Minrott isn't the one doing the assuming.

Some liked his address, some didn't. Most had preconcieved notions, and aren't really going to change their mindset regardless of if he had suddenly developed amazing speech abilities. You seem to fall in this crowd.

There was nothing original in this speech, but at the same time it was straight forward and unifying moreso than his previous ones so I felt it was a step in the right direction. He politely addressed war critics in a positive manner. Something I can't recall him doing previously.

I believe he does speak the truth. I believe you are biased, as I am and thus your opinion is not at all really an opinion.

I think you need to familiarize yourself with "constituional law".

I really don't like the idea of using security as justification for our government to snoop into my business. And the whole idea that it will save lives, I can do that by bringing every American troop overseas back home next week and having them stand guard duty on our nations borders.

We are citizens now, not fellow Americans.

If I assumed anything, it was that you believe he's lied to us. In your next post, you accuse me of making assumptions, then say

I don't believe the man speaks the truth.

He assumes that a prime time Presidential address isn't meant to sway opinion. Everybodies got one.

But Lyion, you belive my opinion is biased and therefore not an opinion at all? I'd think you'd be embarrassed at the least for saying such a thing. I made no spin, I only said that I belive that GW Bush couldn't talk his way out of a paper bag and he's a bald faced liar...in less than that many words.

It's an opinion, eveybodies got one.

edit; Lyion, by their very nature opinions are always biased, that's why we call them opinions, and not facts. I don't dismiss your thoughts for what you belive, that would be rude.

In my lifetime I think all the past presidents have really fucking sucked. We need to reincarnate one of the first 15 presidents or reanimate his corpse for the next presidency...We need the type of guy who will take a musket and shoot the President of Venezuela in the face next time he lips off and reinstitute slavery. A president like that would get shit done unlike these stupid nancy-boy faggots like Bill Clinton.

pfft Clinton was the greatest President in my lifetime, I'm 48 years old. Fuck LBJ, Kennedy hell wanna talk nancy boi? Nixon he was a pip, Ford hoho great golfer, Carter, hell of a man. Then there's Ronnie Reagan, well we used to call him Raygun. Can't deny it though he did bring the Soviets to their knees. Then there was daddy Bush, kicked Saddam's ass but couldn't help his own people after a hurricane. Funny how history repeats itself.

But Clinton, man he balanced the budget, kicked Serbian ass, and brought a fat Californian aid to her knees. Shoot what a guy. Damn I wish I could be President, or someone like me. Hell maybe someone like me already is...

aww Jeezuz, you guys skimmin your American History books? FDR was the greatest American president, hands down. Read about it sometime and stop worshiping slave owners and warmongers. When folk like me say we're proud to be an American, it ain't because we can kick everybodies ass. There's a bigger truth.

lol FDR. You think any of his brilliant Social Security will be there for you? Maybe you're old enough to get in on the last boat, I'm not. Hell, I'm probably paying for yours right now. Yeah, he was great.

Actually yes, but Social Security alone was but one tenth of one percent of what he did. Read your history man. As far as you paying for mine, heh, I won't live to collect it so the doc says.

No worries though, it was a good plan. I have two parents who live with it and they live well within their means. But there's so much much more you need to know about FDR. He was the last great American President. Everyone of them since have tried to claim likeness. Ronald Reagan was close, Bill Clinton was close. The rest of those clowns, couldn't hold a candle.

And why shouldn't you pay? Do you live in Viet Nam? Or Liberia? Do you live in Indoneasia and pick your dinner from a landfill? Do you beg on the street? Do you get raped and sodomised by your neighbors? Do you not belive that you when you were born here you were not given a gift? A gift of a life that enabled you to share your good fortune?

No, you don't have a clue do you? It doesn't matter who the President is, it doesn't matter what they do. It matters what you do, every day. It's a big world and it's hard to wrap ones head around it. Just make that small change, choose to care...no need to get depressed, or angry...just care, and move on. Give something back, you are so wealthy, in mind, and condition. And you scoff at Social Security...don't be so shortsighted. Gods speed~

about the only thing FDR did was invent alot of new government level jobs that did nothing to get us out of the depression

WW2 solved the economy issue at the time.

That's about the most ignorant thing I've ever read. I will say this though, if FDR hadn't gotten the American economy on it's feet, we would have never fought in WW2. You really think the short term effects of war was what solved the depression?

You deserve what you vote for.

FDR is one of the worst presidents in U.S. history in my eyes. And I have "read about it," thanks.

He set the foundations for the bloated bureaucracy that is our government today with his slew of federally run programs. Some argue that these were "needed" - but they are in the wrong. The New deal had negligable effects on unemployment rates (it dropped from 25%ish to 21%ish) - the real defeater of the depression was WW2's economic boom.

He constantly overstepped his bounds of power, and set "precedents" that allowed modern politicians to feel entitled to create abominations such as the patriot act. It is directly his fault that our government has evolved more and more into a "big brother" that prys its nose into nearly all aspects of our lives.

Oh, and he imprisoned over 120,000 innocent US occupants (and for all practical purposes, bankrupted them and robbed them of their homes) into internment camps solely because of their skin color. Swell guy! (READ UR HIST0RY LOLZ)
