so yeah, a truck blew up outside my house

it's just about midnight, we're drifting off to sleep watching a movie and all of a sudden there's a big bang, and the house kind of shakes a bit
now, we live semi close to the train tracks, so having that kind of sound, and the house shake a bit isn't particularly new
but it came from the wrong direction, and just felt wrong
it also woke up the baby, which trains never do
anyhoo, I jumped up and looked out the window
holy fireball batman
about 6 houses south of us, there's a vehicle just blazing away
amazingly, the firetruck was there in UNDER 4 minutes (which was crazy)

I live on the other side of your railroad tracks, and my cardboard hardly moved. Earl complained a bit, but heck he always is.

weird. I"ve had many weird things happen in front of my house. my parents' house that is.
the weirdest one was when I was getting into my car to leave when an SUV came through the yard, rolled over our chain-link fence and then two cops flew up behind them and chased them on foot through our back yard.
the two kids stole their mother's vehicle.

My uncle had a high speed chase end up in the entrance to his cellar. Seeing pictures of the car wedged into the concrete was very Ccc.

I drove through Detroit today. I SAW 8 MILE ROAD!! =) Glad you, the wife, and the baby are safe, that is al that matters!!

That was one of the highlights of my trip through Michigan too...so sad.

Seriously I've been to Detroit. What other kind of highlight is there? You don't even have as assinine black people stuff as Milwaukee, like the "Black Holocaust Museum."
I must have missed that day in AP History.

Detroit is a bit of a shit hole. I don't live there but on the outside of it (Warren for about 6 years, now I'm in Shelby Township).
They are trying to make it a "big city" of sorts like Chicago or something but with the way things are going around here, I think they and we are screwed.

Glad they didn't get the wrong address Tik, but if you have neighbors getting hit with "bombs", I'd think about moving :p

There is pleanty of stuff Downtown worth seeing. Theres a fuckin TON of history in Detroit.
With the casinos being brought in, the baseball all-star game, and now the superbowl the city has really picked up. States been bustin ass to make the downtown area presentable.
5 years ago it wasnt even worth going into the city, now its actually quite fun.

no, but being the oldest city not on the east coast does. the casinos are what started turning the city around, and bringing people and money back into the downtown.

ive got a friend who lives on 11 mile (im pretty sure) and he did tell me once that 8 mile is a fucking joke compared to others areas there
