I won't forget the day a few years ago when I realized what a joke the USPS is. I had sent a package and it was late, I went to the post office and asked them about the situation to find out about how long it should take to reach the destination. The woman asked if I had insured the package, I said no, she then said that they couldn't tell me anything about it and that I was essentially SOL
I asked her what the hell I was paying for when I paid postage... Apparently the USPS can charge YOU to send a package but be completely free of responsibility unless you pay them additionally to insure it.....
GOOD THING THEY ARE SUPPORTED BY THE GOV. Cause they would be out of business in a second otherwise

Actually, the Post Office is the one branch of the government that is completely self-supporting. They take in no tax dollars whatsoever. Their entire budget comes from postal fees, ie from stamps, etc. So, no, they're NOT supported by the government...

I don't trust my mailman. One time I saw him skip every other house. He's a feisty old man too.

did I ever mention that randy macho man savage used to deliver my mail? No shit.
Anyways.. the post office fucking blows. If you have to ship something save yourself an hour of misery waiting in those fucking lines and go to a UPS store.
The few times I am forced to go into a post office I find myself hurtling over the counter feet first into some fat cranky bitches face who tells me she lost my package. Next thing you know I'm kicking like 3 cops asses and burning the whole place to the ground.
it's never a pretty site.

and that is just about the coolest thing I have heard in the last week that Macho Man used to deliver your mail... Was his pinky taped when he delivered your mail?

You can send the mail with any number of carriers.

Monopoly: A situation in which a single company or group owns all or nearly all of the market for a given type of product or service. By definition, monopoly is characterized by an absence of competition - which often results in high prices and inferior products.

USPS employ's more folks then all the armed forces combined (last I checked).
They are also rated as the number two shipping carrier re: quality and speed vs price (I can't recall who was first, it wasn't fedex or ups though). I think you got bad luck on that package.
The intarweb is to blame for the increase IMHO.
(BTW I'm a bit bias as my bro is a postal carrier)

Fedex
USPS
UPS
in that order. UPS is the biggest pile of shit carrier. I will send USPS over UPS anyday but Fedex is the best.

FedEx, from what I had read was one of the most expensive, and the article I read was in regards to prices vs speed/quality.
We ship all our stuff FedEx though.
USPS for tracking sucks big time, but outside of the tracking stuff, I've never had a problem.

I'm not kidding about the macho man either... This diesel'd out steriod freak would wear combat boots, USPS shorts and a tight USPS t-shirt...He had the Randy Macho Man goatee, the shades and wore a bandanna...He was a spitting image of the guy.
If I wasn't scared he might gouge out my jugular with his thumb I was going to ask him to say "SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM!!!!" just to verify.
Heheh.. i would love to consult on the next version of GTA. You think the last one was bad, that shit was tame compared to what I would pull off.

anyone that has actually worked for the USPS knowns why the suck.. I worked as a contractor for a year.Watching them get anything done as far as IT relations goes(where i was at) was just horrid. All in all it was about as entertaining as watching a monkey fuck a football.
As for the company itself a perfect example of the idiots that run it...
All the Post offices in the Northern part of Ohio are set up for Satelite communcations. Approx about 250 to 300
Of which only about 20 percent actually have it up and running. However everyone of these post offices were paying about 128.00 a month for this service.
The reason why they did not have a VSAT systems up and running? Because they said sending someone out would cost too much. To date they are still about 50 percent up the rest are paying their bills every month for a service they dont use. This is the moronic mentality that went on there.
They brought in Contractors to go on these service calls and set these up. I went out to a few of them only to find out there were no computers set up.
They decided to move everything down to a centralized area (Raliegh, NC) and sub contracted out to a help desk support facility. To talk to a live person you dial a number that automatically bills the USPS at about 5.00 a minute(15.00 connect fee). If the problem is not fixed in 10 minutes the tech staff leaves the ticket opened and then hangs up on you cause someone might be needing to talk to them and we cant be bothered to take care of a problem now can we? You call back get nailed with the connect fee then have to give the guy a ticket number to fix said problem.
Why not just hire some tech support guys instead of hiring contractors? Cause Union laws wont allow you to step into the position. You have to spend 5 to 10 years sorting and delivering mail first. God forbid you might actually have to know anything, but hey you can work your way into the position.

apparently i missed the memo about my grocery store becoming the post office... the past few days i have had to deal with more cranky bitches looking for two-cent stamps than all the cranky bitches from any regular day combined. WE ARE NOT A POST OFFICE. just because we sell books of stamps does not mean that you can fulfill all your postage needs at a GROCERY STORE.
sonofabitch, i'm glad i have a day off today. i was seriously primed and ready to punch the next asshat that complained to me when i told them that we don't have two-cent stamps and that they'd have to waddle their ass to the post office. grrr.
"can't you just print me off a postage sticker for two cents?"
NO!! the three-cent sale is NOT worth using our supplies that are reserved for PACKAGES.
i hate my job

y'see i don't have a problem with the people who ask for stamps.
i have a problem with people who get snippy and bitchy and throw snit-fits when i tell them that we don't have two-cent stamps. if they'd just be like "oh bummer" and move along, i'd be fine. but nooooo it's "are you sure? *heavy sigh* that means i'm gonna have to go to the post office *accusatory glare*"
and phlegm thank you for the chuckle hehe
