No, the key here is the same key as last weekend. Roethlisberger is taking over the game, and Pitt is stopping the run and pressuring the QB.

Now, the question is will Cowher get over conservative like he did last week and let Denver back in the game.

I'd just like to remind everyone of my 24-7 prediction for the outcome, in the favour of the steelers that is

Denver is on pace to match their pathetic offensive output from last week.

And yes, it's a carbon copy of last week sans the turnovers.

Pittsburgh and NE play a 3-4 with similar LB blitz schemes. Denver was helpless against it and couldn't run the ball at all last week. I've said all week if I were a Denver fan I'd be terribly concerned about the inability of the run game and overall offensive performance against NE's depleted D. The major difference between this game and last week is that Pitt hasn't fumbled twice on kick/punt returns.

To give an idea of how dominant NE's 3-4 was, Denver has turned the ball over twice and is down 24-3 currently. NE had 5 turnovers and only lost by 14. If Denver doesn't adjust in the 2nd half to this 3-4 (unlikely since they've had 3 weeks to prepare for NE and now Pitt's 3-4), they're going home.

Denver has been playing like shit this game.

Denver's D hasn't stopped Pitt all day, or made any real big plays. Denver's O likewise made no real adjustments this week facing yet another 3-4 clone D, after struggling mightily against New England.

Lyion, NE's D held Denver to a much lower ypc despite many more carries. That's the difference in this game, missed big play opportunities. Lynch just dropped an INT that could have been a tideturner.

Likewise, NE put up 100 more yards of total offense. This is definitely a showcase for the 3-4 vs Denver, if nothing else, and something they're going to have to work on heavily for next year if they want to represent the AFC.

The difference between driving 80 yards and throwing a pick in the end zone, and throwing that TD pass is so ridiculously minute, and that's what wins football games. But it doesn't mean we should not analyze why, and postulate future performance (this game).

Denver was more conservative against N.E. because they had a lead, Num. Thus the stats are decieving. In the end, all that matters is who wins. Denver did last week. They didn't this week.

Denver's D played a much, much better game against N.E.. They pressured and rattled Brady, in addition to stopping the run. While they did a good job against the run today, they did not rattle Roesthlisberger today, and he tore them up.

Denver was outcoached in this game, just like Indy was outcoached in the last game. It's ironic, since I'd consider Shanahan a better schemer than Cowher, but I'd give Ken Wisenhunt a lot of credit. He mixed things up and made Plummer beat him, and he couldn't. Likewise, Lebeau had a great scheme against Plummer, and mostly nullified the typical Denver bread and butter plays which hurt the Broncos.

Plummer was able to 'manage' the game and win versus N.E. due to mistakes. He needed more plays this week, and didn't deliver. Nor did Shanahan really put his O in a better position against the 3-4, which has been around forever, as has the zone blitz.

The difference was moreso the turnovers and the key throws Roethlisberger made early on in the game. He didn't 'manage', he played the game and that's why Pitt is going to the Super Bowl.

I think the Broncos game plan was to shut down the run and force Roethlisberger to beat them. They did a pretty effective job of shutting down the Steelers run game. The Steelers had 90 yards on 33 carries - less than 3 yard per carry. Roethlisberger stepped up and beat them with passes.

Yeah, they put 8 men in the box a lot, I even saw 9 a couple times...they were playing against the run and played a zone defense all game long and gave their WRs too much cushion.

The Steelers played way above what I thought they would. They are looking good.

The meat and potatoes Steelers outschemed Indy and Denver in subsequent weeks.

I agree they are peaking at the right time, but damn if I'm not super impressed with their gameplans both weeks.

I'm very curious how they'll play against Seattle, who also seems to be peaking at the right time, and blew away a Carolina team I honestly thought would beat them.
