I bought a laptop on eBay for school. Big mistake. Trying to install some drivers, but the Dell web site won't let me choose an OS. I hate big companies I hope they all get run into the ground.

The Dell 1800's are not to bad, then again thats a different market and they may actually use beter parts in those.

I've had good experiences with Dell, but they do use wholesale and are firmly in bed with Microsoft.

My 5160 was dirtcheap, excellent, and has worked for years without a hiccup.

where I work, we're pretty firmly in bed with HP, and as such, all our laptops and desktops are Compaq's


which for the most part is ok. I really like the armada laptops

Agreed but no offense... Working with you guys is fucking awful.

Between the wannabe reseller division, the indian CS and tech support and the fucking dumbass pricing games and upsell hell I don't know why you guys are still on top.

I think the new CEO of HP is really going to turn them into a monster competitor directly aimed at Dell's throat.


Here's the dizzle about Dell systems... You buy a 299 desktop and it sucks WTF did you expect? It's like the Ford Focus of computers... Well The Ford of computers, because aLL Ford's suck.

Moving right along... Dell makes some of the best out of box systems around and the ratings prove that. BUT, and this is a big "but", the minute you need support or service you better forget about it.

That Dell warranty? You would be better off wiping your ass with it and saving yourselves 5 cents on toilet paper, because thats about all its worth.

My advice... if you are tech saavy build your own system. If not, try and save up for a boutique system from Alienware, Polywell Poly or Velocity Micro.
