Students Suspended for Snowball Fight
Feb 24, 4:38 PM (ET)
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - Two Ramona High School students were suspended for bringing dangerous objects to school - snowballs.
Seniors Michael Sepulveda and Daniel Zavala, the snowball co-conspirators, made a pre-dawn run to the San Bernardino Mountains to fill their pickup trucks with snow and bring it to school for what they hoped would turn into an annual "bring Big Bear to Riverside" ritual.
They were suspended after a school parking lot snowball fight before the start of classes Thursday.
Principal Mike Neece said one of his most important responsibilities is maintaining a safe, orderly learning environment.
"Anything that disturbs that or disrupts that is inappropriate on a school campus," Neece said. "Anything that could cause injury, or could cause a student to get upset and instigate a fight, or damage students' personal property is just inappropriate behavior."
Zavala and Sepulveda were stunned.
"The school overdid it. In the handbook it does not say, 'Do not bring snow to school,'" Zavala said Thursday afternoon.
"It's snow," Sepulveda said.
Savala's mother Martha Valdez called the boys' actions "harmless" but said she supported the decision by school officials.
"They're still there to mandate the rules, and they have to draw the line somewhere."

Snowballs can be dangerous. A snowball fight could escalate. It's not out of the question that someone who packed hundreds of snowballs with the intention of randomly throwing them at people shouldn't be suspended.
Go look for another damning article about schools. This one isn't that bad.

Oh noes, an escalated snowball fight! It's not like the snow was packed with rocks.
These boys did something creative, something that 10 years ago would have had the teachers out joining in the fun. Now creativity is rewarded with punishment....go go school system. Follow orders, do as we say and you'll grow up to be perfect little automotons!

Yeah kind of silly, imo. But with everyone up in arms if someone were to get hurt, it's the schools liability at that point.

You would be the first one here with the link if some kid got brained by a stone filled snowball and died on school property.

One time I was walking into the high school area of my school to get a Mellow Yellow and I all of a sudden was nailed in the eye by a huge snowball. When my vision came back, I saw my older brother laughing his ass off at me. The entire hallway had exploded in this huge snowball fight after he hit me so there was snow flying everywhere. I was running to grab a snowball to nail my brother with when a pack of seniors picked me up and carried me to this snowpile that had gathered outside the high school doors. They tossed me into it and laughed and laughed. Man that snow rocked. I miss those days.
Nobody even got a detention and this fight was inside.

See, that's why I said "It's not like the snow was packed with rocks."
Harmless fun is harmless fun.

Well I can see where the school is coming from. As sue happy as people are today all it would have taken was for one stone to have been accidently rolled up in the snowball - some kid looses an eye and all hell breaks loose.
I remember the days of a good snowball fight, but times have changed and people are lot more whinny now.

People are whiny because they didn't get hit with enough snowballs when they were young. Lock them in a locker until they see it our way.

Construct a single sentence without sounding like a fucking illiterate retard.
JUST ONE!
And we've been over this... a highschool diploma doesn't mean what it used to in this country anymore.
