suggestion for video up grade

I was wondering what i could buy to up grade my ATI radeon 9800SE (AGP). It's still work ok, but what the option available without putting to much money.
I got a P4 3.0Ghz, Asus P4P800, 1Gb memory, SATA 160Gb HD if someone was wondering. (not overclocked).

Bear in mind that a pretty high majority of the new new upgrades are going to be pci-e, universally.
I really like the geforce 6800, myself; I don't like ATI because I'm not fond of their drivers.

nvidia 7800GS is probably the best AGP card you'll be able to buy

Just built my gf's new comp with this card, finished last night. Will get windows and a game installed today and let you know how it runs.

Hmm, thats harder. You sure you dont just wanna upgrade the whole beast? AGP is a dead technology. Any AGP card you buy now you wont be able to use in a new system down the road.
But, if youre gonna buy an AGP card anyway, maybe this :

I use xfx overclocked 7800GTXes in SLi and they are bulletproof. Running them at 516 core/1350 RAM and they dont hiccup. So XFX is recommended as far as Im concerned.

If your looking AGP and price isn't an issue 7800, if price is an issue and your upgrading from a 9800 I would saylokointhe 6600, 6800, X800 or X850 range. They will be considerably less expensive then the 7800 types. I run a 6800 and have yet to useit for somthign that it couldn't handle easily. I honestly dont think the avg person would notice the difference between a 6600GT, a 6800 or a 7800. The powergamers might.

Forgot about the 7800, but I haven't really seen how well it runs as we still have the 6800's, which are fantastic, imo.

Good call. Wouldnt spend too much cash since your whole rig will need upgrading in a year. Depending on what you play of course.

You guy's think that AGP ASUS V9999GT/TD 6800GT 256DDR3 MB is a good video card? i could get one for 150$ Canadian.

I used a 6600GT OC in my old rig and use a 6800 GS pci-e in my new one, both were great and ran everything I needed perfectly. Oblivion looks great on the 6800 GS at "High" setting.

I have a 6800GS pci e in one rig and a 6800Gt in the other. Both run flawlessly and play anything on the market.
I'd definitely recommend that card.
