Level 17, exp seems way slow in COH

Ok, I'm still having fun, but levelling has slowed down, and death down right sucks ass now.

Is there any trick to levelling at higher levels? Is it getting a really good croup and mowing through purples?

I've been in faultline recently, and the exp is good, but every once in a while I get some uber yellow boss mob who roots me and keels me...

How's everyone else doing?

I'm at 16 and doing well.

I have found that the best way to level, which is fairly obvious, is to get in a group of all good people who know there jobs. Try to get in a group with people who are one to two levels higher than you and stick with the higher level missions. If there is a level 16, 16, 17 and two 18's in your group, do a level 18 mission. If you do a mission that consists of mobs 1 to 2 levels below you, sure it will be easy to mow through them, but your wasting your time because you'll only get 5 or 6 xp per kill. At level 17, you want to be mowing through mobs that give between 12-17 xp per kill with the occasional boss yielding 30-40 xp.

You really have to have a group that knows what they are doing. That is what the significance of a superteam is all about. Fight with the same people everyday, get use to eachothers fighting styles and the xp will move fast.

And there are already a TON of level 40s out there.

at 17 try to move into talos or only do groups that are doing the south corners in faultline if you have to stay there. You can also try to get family groups in Ind port at the docks till 23 or 24 with awesome exp. Missions are poor exp compared to patrol groups in the right places.

If I am on and running a group in Ind Port I will invite and SK you since you will be a miss monster against the 24s+. If I am in Dark Astoria or Terra Volta though :(

Part of the problem is I'm playing with different people every time I log in.

Are you in a super group yet? get in one with some peopel you have grouped with and exp with them. Learn their ways, even if they arent the best.

Try to keep your groups below 6 people, the less the easier it is to manage, easier on the healers, and if doing indoor missions the difficulty and exp is curved to be the same for each person if you are a group of 8 or a group of 2.

I'm in our gay supergroup. But usually there are only 1 or 2 of us on.

I may take a break, as I'm actually getting bored. I think if I could get a good team it'd be different, but the weathers too nice to spend too much time on my pooter.

Its hard to break the race to level mentality I had in EQ and DAOC. Damn them!

I refuse to grind, unless there's a hot chick involved!

I'm with you Lyion....getting way to nice out. Summer-time girls are coming out
I find the XP grind at only lvl 14 boring...haven't played in almost 2 weeks.

Freebie month ends in 2 days and considering quitting.
Was fun for 2 weeks.....GREAT for 2 weeks actually...but it really seems more of the same stuff, over and over and over and over and over.

Any other decent MMORPG out or coming out in the months to come?

Not until WoW, and that probably won't be until around November.

It's not an mmog, but Front Mission 4 comes out in a couple weeks. That should occupy me for like a week... ugh.
Wish they hadn't pushed back Fable. Going to need another game fix once I'm through with FM4.

I'm still hanging out at lvl 8 and not really into it as much as I thought. I guess it'll come in strides. I can't see myself getting addicted like in EQ. There's not really any loot other than nice enhancements and inspirations. Dying sux and so does all the debt you gotta make up. So .. we'll see.

And I'm still having a good time in CoH. But I think my attitude has alot to do with the fact that I only play with real life friends, we have our own superteam and we communicate through Ventrilo voice chat.

I am having a pretty good time with the game. I think EQ has ruined all other games by providing such an addictive and time consuming experience. I think if you don't expect to be entertained 8 hours a day for 5 years, most of the games that people get bored with or think "suck" would actually be pretty fun in moderation.

I still am, too. But often I need to reign in my 'level to win' attitude I have from EQ.

I'll never play a time sink game again, although at times I miss early EQ and the craziness.

I really miss the EQ craziness....talk about fun!!!!

I think with CoH i'm bored, because there is no high end game at all. Nothing to look forward to.

I really wish the game had some kind of loot, so there is a reward for the hours of grinding.

Why Grind when a lvl 1 looks like a lvl 40 character? Should have started the super heroes naked, and at least get clothes for killing stuff...i dunno. Something to look forward to besides powers.

Just can't see myself sitting in front of the PC on a sunny day grinding away....blast, blast, blast, blast, blast or heal, heal, heal, over and over and over at the same mobs and nothing to look forward to.

Great game, just not for everyone i guess.

Do what I do, open all the windows in your computer room so a nice breeze blows through :))

If there are no windows in your computer room, move your computer to a room that has windows :))

Or get real creative and sit outside with your l33t laptop.

The whole "no loot" thing sucks I think. They shoudl at least add a toolbelt with funky gadgets or something

The no loot thing is a major part of the game. It is one of the things that defines it against all the other games out there.

If you go in witht he EQ must level up mentality, yeah the game is going to wear thin quickly.

I have a grind character and amission character. I am gong to see everything I can.

I like it because the fighting is more action based than just hitting "a". You can view enhancers as the "loot" in the game. I just find it to be more fun than EQ. Does that mean I'll play for 5 years? I doubt it, but it will keep me occupied for a few months at least.
