Forms for the Contested Hearing by mail.
For those of you who don't remember this is a ticket for going 55 in a 45, total comes to $91 that I'm ok with paying but insurance rates going up is what I'm trying to avoid.
So far the two best options I got from the last thread were to plea either No Contest or to plea down to Obstruction of traffic.
My question to you fine folks is if there is a good way I could handle this through the mail, or is my best bet to just go there in person on my court date?

Go in person and avoid calling them Johnny Law.

Going in person will likely cut your ticket down significantly just by you showing initiative. When I got my ticket (plea of not guilty.. still haven't had my court date yet, gg ticket in January court date in May) I saw so many people walk out of there pleaing no contest and walking out with no points and their ticket cut in half. Sure I could've done that, but I wasn't guilty =\

I really don't understand the plea of no contest, how does not contesting them cut your ticket and get rid of points?

They don't have a school there you can take to $0 the ticket, does not hit insurance and doesn't deduct points from your license?

Because not contesting it you could be saying you don't think you did it but you're not going to waste their time and let them make their decision.. and typically, depending on the judge, they're pretty fair.

In California, you can go to school two times every 3 years. It may be the same where you live.

Most likely since this is your first you'll get supervision anyways.

oh for gods sakes man. take the ticket in the ass and get on with your life. Your guilty plain and simple. If you pull a no contest I have seen judges go for the jugular on simple trafic cases, for wasting thier time. they dont have to hand this off and frankly for a minor offense of 10 over they might not.
Take the school if you dont want points removed, and if you cant keep your fucking foot off the accelerator, get a fucking moped.

Around here, a no contest plea takes as long as a guilty plea does, so it's not anymore of a waste of time.

What you consider a waste of time and what the judge does is two different things. its one more dickhead on the docket that is keeping him from his tee off time. All I am saying isI have seen judges go off of people with puny ass traffic tickets. Not a pretty sight.
If you are going thru with this, my advice is wear a fucking tie.
If you walk in looking like a bum or wearing jeans the judge is more likely to suggest around a body cavity searches without lube.

Not sure if they do traffic tickets the same way by you.. here, whether you show up or not, there are 15 other people there for the same thing at whatever time you were designated. They call your name, you go up there, they say ticket for this, your plea? Say what you plea, they say ok, I'm doing x, have a nice day. Takes a total of 30 seconds to go through each person.

A lot of places are doing probation for minor offences like this. As long as you don't get another ticket in 3 months time the ticket stays off your record. Not sure if they're doing that up north, but down here they use high fines as punishment rather than killing your record. Shouldn't be *that* hard to not get pulled over in 3 months.

I got $120 no seatbelt ticket the other day. THe bullshit part is that I took my seatbelt off when his lights went on and I pulled over so I could get my purse from the backseat and my insurance from the glove box

Thats why I alwaysalwaysalways wait until he is at my window asking for my card.
THEN I take my shit off and dig around the backseat.

Lawl, tell your boyfriend he needs to take it easy on pounding your ass for a few days, you're getting kind of testy.
Take your stupid posts somewhere else and leave room for the helpful people.

I think that's sound advice. Just like in the last thread, I think you're being a raging pussy about this whole ordeal. Show up, dress nice, plead guilty, get your supervision. If no supervision, ask for traffic school. Done. This is 2 threads now where you've been a complete shit about receiving decent advice. Seriously, take it like a man already and shut the fuck up.

No... helpful is stating information without tossing out unnecessary insults.
You're just as useless as him.

And for you guys with your "man up and pay it" bullshit, fuck you. You're fucking stupid. There is asolutely no reason to pay a ticket for a retarded reason like this. I hope you get pulled over by a holier than thou cop and get a ticket just like mine so you can realize this.
