I need a logo. I've got a meeting with a computer case designer in a week and a half and so far I haven't been pleased with some of the stuff designed in house or the responses I have gotten on other boards...So I thought I would try here.

I'm bringing out a pretty shithot gaming rig under the name "Fuse Computers"

One of the things we do here at my company is provide systems ready to go out of the box with an actually good software load including office suites, then we optimize the hell out of the system and provide a certain level of security.

...in other words if you are complete computer retard, you can take one of my systems and in 5 minutes have it up and running and pretty much complete 90 percent of typical computing tasks.

Hence the name "Fuse"...We take the best hardware, software and service and combine them into a product that doesn't suck, like a Dell for example. (j/k Dammuzis) hehe.


Now when I think of Fuse I think of things being combined or melted together.

I need two parts to the logo....

One I need the word "FUSE" in all capitals. Two, I need a symbol.

The logo I think I am after is something very metallic/chrome looking combined with an orange or liquified metal look to it.

For example I was thinking about a metal sphere, but split in four pieces and between the splits its got glowing orange or fire coming out.

Thing of the XBox logo. Another idea is some sort of cage or geometric shape with a glowing molten sphere in the middle of that.

Whatever it is it has to look good, but in a sense be simple. It's going to be on alot of different mediums.

If anyone designs something I'll use I will give them $150 bucks.

-What format do you want these to be in?
-Size specifications?
-Will it be a web logo or used in print as well (business cards, etc)
-If in print, do you want a B&W version?
-If in print, what dpi do you want? 300 or so?
-Do you want a stand-alone graphic as well or something only with text?

I would want the original probably in a hi-res PNG or TIFF. I can do all the exports to GIF and JPEG dependant upon the medium it will be used for.

Size is really somewhat irrelevant... I can always resize it myself. But lets say the logo will be on a website...It can't take up the entire page.

I don't need B/W version.

Hmmm really the DPI isn't that important as the overall look and quality. I can convert it however I need to.

I want a stand alone "symbol" and a stand alone word that says "FUSE".

Like Nike and then the swoosh for example.

I would like to have initial submissions by next Friday and then touch-ups with the finalist within the next couple of days.

DPI will be important when it comes to having the logo printed, is this going to be used in print anywhere?

Hush, you. I'd love to go into Graphic Design as a profession, and would love a shot at this. I don't want to be brushed aside before I get a chance by a professional.



And yeah - if you want this in print, you'll want a 300+dpi form submitted to you, as that will keep the quality high. You won't really be able to go in and crank up the dpi later as that will reduce the quality and make things gritty.

For the most part when I deal in web design all the base graphics I use are PNG. Most of the time I then optimize them into JPG or GIF in the size that I need.

PNG is a vector graphic and can be resized infinitely.

Now in the case of this logo I would probably want it in two formats...

TIFF or some sort of high res static bitmap and then PNG.

I am not a graphics designer either so I am really leave it to your judgement. Formats aren't that important, because I'm pretty saavy with the conversions...I'm really just concerned with the look.

One thing to keep in mind, while I would like something like the "Apple" above, the symbol/logo should also look ok if the fancy textures are taken away...

For example you can make Nike's symbol and make it look all fancy, but if its just one flat color you still know you are talking about a Nike product when you see it.

On that logo can you take the ends of the "S" in "FUSE" and have them merge into the bottom of the "U", and the top of the "E" ?

And can you change the lightning bolts color to a deep orange/red from the molten lava picture I posted above?

Oh and the lightning's reflections on "Computers" can you make that match the orange color?

Yah I'm stoked...Just showed that to my staff and everyone is pleased.

I think Maeya is going to make a lot of money off my company... I don't have time to be designing all this stuff from scratch.

I did the "s" in "computers" too, to keep it in theme, but if you don't like it, it's easily undone. I'm not 100% satisfied with the mergers, but I wanted to give you a visual on how it would look. If you do like it, I will work on making the transition smoother

Is the whole thing too orangey? Does it look more like rusty metal than reflective chrome?
