watch ufc where they dont punch each other with padded pillows man. I dont know what weight class de la hoya is in but a ufc fighter in his class would own him so bad it woulndt be funny. Its not a fight if you cant use anything but your hands.

Yeah I do watch ufc, and I am guessing that a ufc fighter would just do one good submission and it would be over. lol no real contest versus ufc figher and boxer..... unless of course ufc fighter was on boxing terms and only used hands then boxer would kill him.

True but im guessing boxers would still have a good advantage in a pure boxing match against a ufc fighter just because normal boxing gloves are 16 for heavyweights and I think 12 ounces for middleweight. Not positive but I was sparing with a friend that actually fights a few local ufc matches at the mat room at our local Y they where really light compared to when I was boxing with a friend with his 16 ounce gloves their was a real significant difference.

lol in a straight boxing match a professional boxer of equal weight class would completely destroy any UFC fighter.

The padding from a boxing gloves allows more punching to occur. Also, boxing has limitations, UFC you just can't a bite a guy's dick off. UFC fighters probably would pwn boxers...if they used boxing, but ya never know if they were to use other stuff.

a UFC fighter would get fucked up in a boxing match. That's like saying a team of rugby players could beat an american football team in a game of football

If you pay attention to alot of UFC you'd know that a there are quite a few UFC fighters that were golden gloves, and or have been boxers for a long time. Biggest differance like someone said is the weight of the gloves, UFC gloves are 4ounces basically just enough to pad the hands from being ripped up and to not allow bare knuckles to rip your opponents face and head open much easier. While boxing gloves soften the blow so much it's retarded. Now I'm not saying I'd want to be punched in the face by either a boxer or a UFC fighter, I'd just rather be hit by someone who had a half pound pillow on his hand than not.

UFC is really boring imo. if those gloves in boxing "soften the blow so much it's retarded", it's really interesting that people still get their eyes closed up etc. from swelling and refs call matches b/c too much blood. Yeah, they must really be pussies, those boxers

anyone that calls a boxing glove a pillow, has never been punched by a boxing glove. they may feel "soft" when you pick them up, but add a fist taped up like a rock and it changes things a bit.

Yup... boxing gloves do NOTHING to the recipient of the punches. They simply protect the fists. No UFC fighter would ever EVER say that pro boxers punch with large pillows on their hands... that's just silly.
Still... any boxer would be destroyed... absolutely fucking destroyed in an UFC fight. Mike Tyson vs a 'decent' UFC fighter even... it'd be no contest. He'd be on his back and start squeeking in his little high pitched voice... 'what now?' Sure, if the boxer got in ONE hit, the fight might be over... but those boxers only know how to fight ONE way... standing up, with perfect balance. Things totally change when it's, "oh, there are no rules... just beat the fucker up."
No boxer would last a single round in a MMA match.

I think that everyone realizes that. The question is: How would a UFC fighter (at least one that specializes in something other than grappling on the ground) do in a Boxing match against a pure boxer, following Boxing rules.

boxer would win in about 13 seconds
And... I don't think any UFC fighter would question that... if you asked Chuck Liddell if he thinks he could stand toe to toe against Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis... or hell... George Foreman... in a straight up, sanctioned boxing match... he'd laugh. There'd be no way. Tyson could take Liddell's head off in 3 punches. Those guys are completely different machines. Hell, bring it down SEVERAL weight classes. Liddell vs De La Hoya and I'd still put money on Oscar. Real boxers would demolish anyone outside of their sport... if the rules were followed.
